Tricia and I got to class and some time later, Amber and her 'minions' came in and flung my biology book back at me. I began to update the book, and do my homework when the English teacher, Mrs Rose walked in. About 15 minutes into the long and boring lesson, Kevin gave me a piece of paper that read "Can I have your biology book now, I have to submit It immediately after this period". I nodded my head, saying 'no' and he replied, "why?". I began to wonder why he kept pressuring me to give him the book, as far as I knew, I wasn't the only one who hadn't handed theirs in! The teacher heard him say "why" and asked him what was going on and why he was speaking during her lessons. A student replied the teacher, saying "Kerah" and the class made agreeing noises. I wondered, wtf is Kerah? But i eventually figured out it was Kevin and Deborah merged together. Kevin just giggled and replied "We're just friends, Miss" Miss Rose just nodded and asked him to keep quiet.
I couldn't help but wonder why he said were friends at all. I mean, all I knew was his name so how were we friends? During the break time, I completed my Biology homework and went to sit with Tricia and she began, "Well, that was interesting, Amber looked so pissed!". "Yeah, it was nice", I replied, "But the one thing that made me uncomfortable was when Kevin called us friends, I mean, I haven't even talked to him, ever."
"Yeah, that was weird" Tricia replied and chuckled nervously. "Why did that make you uncomfortable anyway? Except you actually like him. Or do you?" I was about to reply her question when Kevin interrupted, he asked if Tricia could be excused as he needed to speak to her immediately. I gave my consent and watched Kevin take my best friend so far along. I decided to listen to what they were saying because Kevin was smiling and seemed unable to stop. "So, have you started talking well enough? Kevin asked Tricia. "Calm down, I can't just make it obvious that all I want to do is tell her something. I'm already becoming her friend because of you, you can't also rush me." Tricia replied Kevin. She came back to sit with me and I asked her what he had told her. She only replied with "Why must you know?"
She must have seen the clear desperation in my eyes and she finally told me. "Okay, I guess this will also answer the question you asked me earlier, about Kevin calling you guys friends. You don't seem to understand the meaning of such actions so I guess I have to spell it out for you. Kevin wants me to tell you that...um.." Tricia stuttered. I gotta admit, it was a bit frustrating. "He said he needs your Biology notebook ASAP!" She continued. But 'lies', that was all that was written all over her face. Saying that, Tricia stood up and left. And I was annoyed, she obviously told a big, fat lie to my face and I couldn't help but ponder what Tricia said earlier! Was she really speaking to me like a friend all because Kevin wanted her to tell me something?
Usually, I would've asked Kevin to just tell me himself, but for some reason, I got butterflies in my stomach just thinking about asking him! And I surely did not have a crush on him...😅. I decided not to get myself bothered by that little incident so I gave my Biology book to Kevin and went to the toilet to use my phone And the day was over in the blink of an eye. After school, I was walking towards the school gate, leaving for home when I heard someone call my name from a distance. It was definitely not Tricia's voice so I thought it was either Amber that called my name, or I just heard wrong. I ignored the call I kept going when the person called my name again, this time, already catching up to me. I looked at the person and to my surprise, it was Kevin. My tummy felt like it was about to explode but I kept my cool.
"Hi Debbie! How are you?" He asked me. I told him I was fine and he continued, "So, I just thought we should talk so that you can give me your direct reply."
"What reply?" I asked.
"To the question Tricia asked you on my behalf"
"🤦🏼♀️I knew that girl lied to me." I said to myself
"What do you mean?" He asked
"What Tricia told me was that you wanted me to give you my Biology note." I replied him
He looked very confused and embarrassed. "That's not what I asked her to ask you..🤨" he said
"Well, that's what she told me. So, you can just ask me in person, as Tricia is obviously not very reliable.", I told Kevin
"No, it's fine. It's not very necessary. Sorry I bothered you" Kevin replied me in quite a sad tune. He seemed not only surprised, but really disappointed. I felt kinda bad so I insisted he told me whatever it was immediately. He opened up and informed me that he really admired me and wanted to be my close friend. He said he didn't think I would be willing to be in a relationship with him-And good thing he thought that though, because I would have completely refused to date him. I couldn't think of anything more sensible to say, so I just said the first thing that came to my mind, "And Amber? I thought she was your girlfriend or something." She isn't, at all, she's just a crazy person who seems obsessed with me. And between you and me, I don't even like her" Kevin hurriedly said. "Oh, well, I have to go now, I'll see you tomorrow, okay?". "Let me escort you to your house then", he suggested. "That won't be necessary, thank you". I replied. Kevin and I said our goodbye(s) and I left for my house. I looked back as I was walking off and saw Kevin staring at me with a smile plastered to his face. I blushed just a bit and just left.
