Her plan was going to work...right?
Carina had asked Andy and Vic to lure Maya out of work and to the smash house where she'd be there to surprise her girlfriend. As the brunette finished off setting up the living area of their apartment for the movie night part of the date, Vic texted to say Andy was driving Maya to the first destination and that she was being a pain in the ass, asking questions.
"Shit, okay go time I suppose" Carina spoke to herself as she lay out the Brooklyn 99 boxset and grabbed her keys from the kitchen island.
----
"Andy I swear if you don't tell me where we're going right now" Maya was frustrated at her friends stupid games because Ripley hadn't visited her station yet and she knew it was coming.
Herrera had used the excuse of her car was smoking on the inside to Maya and she needed her opinion on what to do. When she opened the car door, Andy shoved her in and locked the door. She rounded the car and began driving away from the station.
"What are you gonna do Maya, fire me?" Andy laughed, turning the radio volume up a little more.
"Yes. Yes thats exactly what I'll do!" Maya fighting the urge to open the moving car's door and make a run for it.
"Will you just hush for a minute and trust that I have your best interest at heart?" Andy looked at Maya, raising her eyebrows.
"I suppose" The blonde gave in, slumping further into her seat and looking out the window.
----
Carina arrived at the smash house only minutes before Maya and Andy appeared. Carina was nervous for the first time in her life. She had a knot in her stomach and the jitters, giving herself a small pep talk pacing the side of her car when Maya realised her girlfriend was outside.
"Andy" Maya said in a concerned voice. "What's going on?". A flutter of butterflies forming in her stomach and a slight smile on her face seeing Carina.
Andy didn't say a word as she parked the car and finally unlocked the doors, allowing Maya to get out and walk quickly over to Carina.
"Baby what's wrong?" Maya spoke as she rushed to the side of the brunette.
"Oh. Hi" Carina smiled, more than usual. And as soon as she was with Maya her nerves left her. It was game time.
"Hi" Maya reciprocated the shy interaction, severely confused and wanting Carina to tell her what was going on.
Carina took ahold of the blondes hand, squeezing it and gave her a quick kiss on the lips before she pulled Maya towards the grey building that the parking lot was connected too. Carina pulled Maya along, running and laughing like a kid as the excitement of the day was filling her with happiness.
As they reached the door, Maya was losing her patience albeit she was smiling and kind of happy that she was with her girlfriend rather than having to deal with her new boss. "Carina, what are we doing here? Why are you not in work? Why am I skipping work?" She spoke quickly and kind of in a panic.
"Will you just trust me, for today?" The Italian stopped, holding the door half open, looking deep into Maya's eyes with a soft smile.
The fire captain melted, "Yeah, I'll trust you." Maya squeezed Carina's hand back and they entered the building, a receptionist desk meeting them as soon as they walked in.
"I'll always trust you, you know" The blonde was whipped to Carina and she kind of loved it, even though she never thought she'd be that person, there was just something special about Carina and her pretty Italian face.
