⇾ SUMMARY:
In the summer of 1967, Becca Atkins falls for Tim Shepard after they strike up a friendship in a downtown 24-hour diner. She doesn't care what everybody says about Tim Shepard: that he's a no good hood, that he's a dangerous criminal. Becca sees something that everybody else doesn't see: she sees a boy Atlas who would do anything to protect his younger siblings. She sees a boy who was dealt a bad hand in life and is making the most of what he has.
The fall of 1967 brings about a dark cloud over Becca and Tim's relationship: tensions between the Shepard gang and the Tiber Street Tigers are escalating and Tim finds himself right in the middle. As a full-out gang war looks inevitable, Becca pleads with Tim to be smart and keep himself safe. But as Tim finds himself buried deeper and deeper in this gang war, Becca finds herself asking if she can remain by Tim's side watching him slowly and slowly lose himself.
It all comes to a head on a cold night in October and the ashes of Becca and Tim's relationship is scattered in the wind.
