leah's pov:

we are playing leicester today. we need 3 points to stay above Chelsea. the second half has kicked off and we have a corner only a couple of minutes in.

beth mead swings the ball in at the near post where I am. I run onto the ball, maybe a little too quickly, and hit it hard with the side of my head.  I couldn't control it or angle it to go towards goal so it just goes out for a goal kick.

but as I walk away I can't ignore the pounding in my head. black spots cloud my vision and now I'm struggling to see. I go down onto my hands and knees as I can't stand upright. a couple of the leicester players come up to me but I can't focus on what they are saying or doing. beth and kim little also come over. kim talks to the ref and beth puts her hand on my back.

after a minute or so the ref calls for medical staff. I look up vaguely and see jordan standing as close to the pitch as she can get.

jordans pov:

I'm standing on the sidelines as I'm a sub but I'm desperate to run into the pitch and hold leah in my arms. I hate seeing her in pain but it's so much worse when I can't be there to help her.

I glance at jonas and he gives me a stare as if to say "don't go" but I decide not to listen. I don't care what the punishments will be, I need to be with leah right now. I slip past jonas and sprint across the pitch to the leicester goal.

when I get to leah she is sitting down receiving treatment from the medics. I sit down next to her and gently put my arm around her. she looks briefly but the medic quickly turns her head back so they can continue to help her.
"what can I do to help?" I ask looking at her longingly.
"exactly what you are doing now. I needed you here with me. thank you"
"your very welcome, you know I'll always be here."

about 10 minutes later, leah gets escorted off the pitch as she definitely can't continue playing. I walk by her side into the tunnel but I'm not allowed to go into the medical room so I sit outside. not long later, beth runs down the tunnel and stands in front of me out of breath.
"is she ok?" she asks.
"I'm not sure, she's getting treatment now. aren't you supposed to be on the pitch?"
"I got subbed off so I came straight down here."
"oh right. take a seat" I say moving up as beth sits next to me. I'm trying to put on a brave face, but beth clearly notices my nervousness.
"she'll be ok jordy, it's leah she's strong"
"yeah, yeah of course"
"come here" she says hugging me.
I hug her back and let a couple of silent tears escape onto her shoulder.
"the best thing you can do right now is be here for her as much as you can which is exactly what you are doing"
I nod my head.
"what's the score?"
"the same, both teams are quite rattled to be fair. people are being a lot more cautious now and no one's headed the ball yet."

half an hour later, one of the medics tells us we can go in and see leah. I jump up and practically run into the room. she's lying on a bed but she sits up when I come in. I hug her gently since I'm a bit scared to injure her more as I know she'll be super fragile.
"jord, it's ok. I promise your not going to hurt me." she says practically reading my mind. she holds out her arms and I get into the bed and snuggle into her side.
"how are you feeling?" I say looking ups dn kissing her jaw.
"fine I guess? I don't know I just feel dizzy and dis coordinated"
"that should ware off soon" beth says standing next to leah and holding her hand.
"hey, thanks for being here"
"of course, I wanted to check if you were ok and also if jordan was ok"
"thanks beth I really appreciate it"
she smiles and then sits down in a chair nearby.

"I'm so glad your ok" I say quietly.
leah doesn't reply, instead she hold onto me tighter and I bury my head in her neck.
