I was waiting for Beam when P Nak came by.

"Hello Nong, have you seen Beam?"

"Ah P, he is still in class. He should be ending soon. Oh there he is!" I exclaimed when I saw Beam walking upto us.

I cocked my head as I saw Beam walk up, smiling away. Wow I knew he liked P Nak but I guess he really must fancy her huh? But I was surprised when I heard the surprised tone as he went "Nak? What are you doing here?"

This man must be blind if he didn't see her. I was lost in my thoughts for a bit till I snapped back to reality hearing Nak ask Beam out.

"Well Beam, I did well on my tests recently. I thought of asking you out for lunch since your notes had helped alot. Would you like to go for sushi with me?"

I kept quiet, wondering what would Beam's response be. I was prepped for him to go with her. Just then I heard him utter softly, "Thank you Nak but I have lunch plans today. You don't have to buy me lunch but if you insist, prolly another day?"

I looked up in surprise. I saw Beam's face reddening abit but he was trying to be as poker face as possible. Nak nodded and left.

"So, which gyudon place are we going to? Can I pick?" I heard Beam ask me enthusiastically. I smiled instantly.

"Well P, we can go to the one around the corner. I know it's your favorite. But you sure you didn't want to go with Nak? We can always go whenever."

"Don't be silly Yo. You asked me first and to be honest, I rather celebrate with you thsn her. You are more important than she is."

I looked at Beam thoughtfully. Did he realize what he said? But then again we were very good friends. Maybe he meant that?

I could feel my heart yo-yoing and thudding as we went off for lunch. I wasn't lying when I said i wasn't in love with anyone. But I often think about my feelings for Beam and keep wondering if its just friendship or more.

He makes me feel in ways that the other boys don't. But I know he is straight which is why I keep my feelings to myself.

Rather have a friend in him than lose him altogether.
