-"Now, Y/n, your father and I are very busy these few months"

-"You'll be staying with the Joneses until summertime, we'll pick you up then"

-"Be good and don't bother them, they're busy writing the catalog and don't need you or Cornelius pestering them"

-"Yes, mother," I replied, leaning back into my seat knowing we'd be driving a while since Cornelius and his family had just moved to a house about a half hour from ours.

I met Cornelius when I was about 3. Our parents would turn each other on babysitting us, so we spent a lot of time together, that is until a year ago on my 15th birthday when we moved away to Oregon. I despised it, I would only be able to visit Cornelius in the summer times which was very inconvenient. That is until a few months ago when Cornelius called me on the phone saying he was moving.

Which brings us to today, their moving day and the day my parents go on that long business trip. After mother and father got promoted they began taking long business trips. I hated them, they were always too busy to pay attention or care for me which only worsened my fears of isolation. Cornelius's parents were the same, except they were always home and preferred to ignore him.

The other bad thing about these trips was I couldn't sleep when I was alone, it was practically impossible for me to do so. Mother took me to a doctor one day, they said it was some form of separation anxiety or a fear of isolation. Which I guess made sense as I always made sure to call Neil (nickname for Cornelius) when I was alone and had the T.V. on for background noise.

As mother pulled into the muddy driveway I got down, making sure to make a splash of mud as I did. After a quick scolding from mom I rushed to the inside of the house, making sure not to bump into the moving truck drivers. I couldn't find Cornelius, but I found his parents, who gave me a quick greeting and told me he was outside.

-"Boo!" I yelled in an attempt to scare Cornelius, but it failed...miserably.

-"Hello to you too, Y/n" he chuckled, staring at me as a pouty face made its way to me.

-"You're never scared, Neil, you could have faked it at least" I hit his shoulder playfully.

-"Okay, fine, Ah! I'm so scared! Happy?" the smirk on his face was annoying me.

-"Not really, but it'll do, I guess" I shrugged and we began to walk past a set of gates. Neil broke a branch off of a bush as I wandered around the garden.

-"Is this the garden you were talking about, what flowers are you going to plant?" I asked, walking onto the rickety, wooden bridge.

-"Careful! And I don't know, we can decide tomorrow" I gave a nod and we kept walking.

-"Is that the same raincoat I gave you for Christmas?" Neil pointed over at my navy blue raincoat.

-"Mm-hmm, what about yours?" he shook his head.

-"It's too small now, had to get a new one, but it's the same brand you got me"

-"You're too tall now" I whined, standing on my tippy toes to try to be taller.

-"Shorty" he teased and began to walk away.

-"Don't bully me!" I ran after him, making sure not to slip or trip on the mud and rocks all over the hill.

-"What was that?" Neil asked as he stopped running and looked up at a set of large rocks.

-"I don't know, maybe it was a rabbit or something" Neil picked up a pebble and threw it up, as it hit, an angry meowing sound was heard.

-"Tag!" I 'tagged' Neil and ran away, passing through a dried up cherry blossom forest and stopped when I noticed a fairy circle.

-"Tag!"

-"Time out, look" I pointed at the fairy circle, it was a set of orange and red mushrooms arranged in a circle.

-"MEOW!" I clung to Neil, frightened by the abrupt sound in all of the silence.

-"Y/n, it's a cat," Neil  laughed as me as I let go, walking over to pet the cat.

-"Don't laugh at me" I huffed out, petting the black furred cat with bright blue eyes.

-"You think there's a well around here?" Neil asked, eyeing the fairy circle.

-"Maybe...you haven't seen one, have you kitty?" I asked the cat that shook its head...weird.

(A/N):

Hi! I'm sorry it took so long for me to publish the next book. I was a bit busy and wanted to give myself some time.

But here it is!

I hope you guys like it!

Also, I made Cornelius's nickname to be Neil in honor of the writer of Coraline, Neil Gaiman.

Bye!
