Taffy & Tea

(POV:Reader)

We went down the steps to the downstairs part of the house. Neil used the metal knocker to knock on the door. There was a silence until three dogs scared the living daylights out of us as they jumped and barked at us through the glass.

-"Oh, cease your infernal yapping!" Miss Spink, an older lady with bubblegum pink hair, opened the door, yelling at the dogs to quiet down.

-"Oh, how nice to see you two, we were wondering when you'd come by" she let us in, leading us over to the living room.

-"Miriam! Put the kettle on!" she called out, giving us a wink?

-"April, I think you're being followed" Miss Forcible, a taller, older lady with blonde-white hair opened the curtains from the kitchen.

-"It's the new neighbor, Miriam, and he brought his little girlfriend" my cheeks flushed red, I looked over to Neil, who mouthed a 'talk later'.

-"They'll be having oolong tea" Miss Spink pointed over to a couch, letting us sit.

-"No, no, no, I'm sure they'd prefer jasmine"

-"No, oolong" as they bickered on what tea we'd be having. I looked around the living room to find a wall full of dogs in angel costumes.

-"Neil, those aren't real...are they?"

-"I'm not sure I want to know" I giggled at his reply. Miss Forcible brought over a tray with taffy and tea cups.

-"Go ahead, have some, they're hand pulled taffy from Brighton" we tried to take one but it was stuck, and after some pulling they ended up stuck on the ceiling.

-"I'll read them if you'd like," Miss Spink offered, handing us the tea cups.

-"Read what?"

-"Your tea leaves, I'll read them and they'll tell us your future"

-"Sure!" I told her, drinking up some of the tea and handing her the cup.

-"It's an angel, it means good news in love related matters" she smiled, but Miss Forcible snatched the cup.

-"No, it means bad news"

-"Good"

-"Bad"

-"Good"

-"Ba-"

-"Why don't you read Neil's?" I offered, seeing as if they kept bickering we'd be here all day.

-"Oh..." Miss Spink's face fell as she took the cup.

-"What is it?!" I was terrified of what she was going to say as her face was one full of concern.

-"He is in terrible danger,"

-"Oh, give me that cup April, your eyes are going" Miss Forcible took the cup.

-"My eyes! You're as blind as a bat!"

-"Don't worry dear, it's a giraffe"

-"What?" I held a laugh at Neil's expression and his fortune.

-"No, it's a hand, look, danger!"

-"No, it's a giraffe" Miss Forcible turned the cup.

-"Giraffe's don't just fall from the sky, Miriam!" as she said that the taffy jar fell from the ceiling, scaring all of us.

-"What should we do?"

-"Just be very careful,"

-"Now, was there something you two came to tell us?"

-"No, thanks for the tea though" Neil replied, taking my hand so we could leave.

-"Thank you!" I waved goodbye with my free hand.
