I wish you knew
How much I changed
After what you did
Love turned into hate
Happiness turned into grief
Laughter turned into tears
Trust turned into paranoia
Bravery turned into anxiety
Affection turned into fear
Sobriety turned into alcoholism
Actions turned into trauma
Enthusiasm turned into anger
Smiling turned into numbness
Joy turned into depression
Empty of a soul
From energetic to exhausted
Darkness overwon the light
Another hero turned villain
Despite all of this
Some good is left
Even if the bad
May feel powerful sometimes
I keep going by
Choosing achievements over failure
Choosing humble over arrogance
Choosing cautious over careless
Choosing defense over attack
Choosing creation over destroying
Choosing solution over problem
Choosing triumph over defeat
Choosing knowledge over ignorance
Choosing hope over despair
Choosing confidence over insecurities
Choosing strength over weakness
Full of creative sparks
From shame to honor
Accomplishments will overwin struggles
I might be shattered
I might be guarded
I might seem egotistical
And that is okay
For I choose myself
Protecting my own peace
No enemies or deceivers
Will break me again
I learned my lesson
Because in the end
Cruelty led to healing
