Chapter 26

Deciding it was too cold to stay outside any longer, the couple got back into Yoongi's car to head for home. Worth it though, Yoongi thought to himself when he saw the time. It was already 3am and he had work in a few hours which meant no sleep tonight.

Jimin immediately skimmed through his songs to choose one to play - landing on one of his favorites. Give it to Me started blaring through the speakers. He rapped along quietly and Yoongi thought it was pretty adorable.

"You know, we don't have to listen to my music the whole time we're in the car. It's not a requirement to be my boyfriend."

"I know hyung, but why would we listen to anything else when yours is so good?"

He couldn't help but smile bashfully at his boyfriend's compliment. Jimin then clicked a few more tracks forward and landed on So Far Away. He's playing his favorites, Yoongi realized.

Jimin sat back and closed his eyes and waited while he listened to Yoongi's introductory parts, bopping his head to the rhythm. When the female started singing, Jimin sang with her. 

Yoongi listened to him graze through the high notes like they were nothing and he had to force his mouth closed so he didn't interrupt. Jimin's voice is beautiful. Like an angel. He listened to the rest of the song; to the way their voices layered together beautifully. His own rasp with Jimin's pure sweetness was an intoxicating mix. 

He waited for the end before speaking. "Jiminie, why didn't you tell me what a good singer you are?"

"Huh?"

"Don't huh me. You heard me."

"I don't know. I don't really think I'm very good."

"Not very good? Jimin, you're incredible."

"Thank you hyung. But it doesn't really matter. You and the shower will be the only ones hearing me," Jimin said with a laugh.

"I want you to record that song. I can release it as a remix to the original. People will love it."

"Hyung, no."

"Why not? You're so good. People need to hear you. Plus, if we released a version with both of us, you could come to gigs with me and do the song. It would give the label a reason to let you travel with me, without an explanation."

Jimin smiled and reached over to rub Yoongi's leg before lacing their fingers to show his appreciation for the compliments. He was also buying time to get his words together. Taking a deep breath, he finally started, "Yoonie...I love that you love my voice. But you are the only one who will hear it. I don't want to be famous. Or even close to famous. I've accepted that maybe a few people will be curious about me if we are seen together often. But that's small compared to if I did a song with you. That would bring a lot of curious eyes. Especially if we are also seen together past promotions. I want a normal life. Or as close to normal as possible with an idol for a boyfriend."

Yoongi thought that Jimin looked a little sad. Or was it disappointment? Did he think he was disappointing him?

Yoongi squeezed their laced fingers before kissing Jimin's hand. "It's ok baby. I'm not upset. I just got carried away - always thinking ahead. I understand completely. I promise. I want you to be happy. I'll do anything to protect that."

The look that washed over Jimin was pure relief.

"Plus, I'm not disappointed that I'm the only one who gets to hear you. I get that all to myself."

"I can think of a few other things you can have all to yourself," Jimin replied cheekily. 

"My baby has a dirty mind," Yoongi replied with a pleased smirk. "Don't worry, I will make them all mine in time."

When they arrived back to Jimin's, it was after four am. Yoongi was down to less than two hours to be at work.

"Hyung, do you wanna come in?"

"Sure but I can't stay long. I have work in a couple hours."

"What?! Yoongi, are you serious?"

"Yes, why?"

"Why were we out so late? You don't have any time to sleep."

"Because it was our first date and I wanted it to be perfect. Trust me, the happy will carry me through."

"Aww babe, you're so sweet to me. Come in, I'll make coffee. You can shower and stuff here too if you want. I probably have clothes you can wear."
