As quickly as it was there the warmth of my sleep faded, I didn't open my eyes straight away as I quickly realised that this could not have been my room as my maturase had lost its soft padding causing the springs to dig into my back this was like sleeping on a cloud and the small ice-cold arms wrapped tightly around my frame, the gentle fingers running through my hair and the careful lips pressed lovingly to my forehead.

I quickly opened my eyes to meet, dark gold eyes that held dark flecks, I allowed my eyes to travel around the rest of the face. Esme. Her heart-shaped face had been one of the leading causes of my torment over the past few months "good morning Bella" she slowly helped me sit up but never took her hand off me, as I continued clutching onto her long cardigan afraid that she was going to leave again

"Esme, you... you stayed" I felt the tears well up in my eyes worried that this was only a dream

"Of course, Bella sweetheart, I am so sorry that I ever left in the first place" I snuggled deeper into her hold, inhaling her sweet homely scent. The comfortable silence was broken when my stomach decided to make its presents known, I felt my cheeks burn in embarrassment, as I heard a soft chuckle from Esme her hands cupped around my cheeks "I'll go make you some breakfast, I think I left something in the cupboard" she lightly leaves a kiss on my nose before leaving me still in the bed "I'll be just downstairs why don't you just freshen up in the bathroom" I nod my head and watch as she leaves the room, I'm forced to sit there helpless and hopeless as the emptiness consumes me again.

I quickly get out of bed and to the ensuite bathroom, I splash some cold water onto my face and hands before looking in the mirror, I barely recognise myself anymore my feature had become slightly sunken in from lack of food and sleep I couldn't do anything when I felt so empty it hurt to much.

I briskly left the room and stepped out into the hallway, I quickly remembered that this was Esme and Carlisle's room from when Edward showed me around, trying to remember the way the best I could I quickly found the stairs, carefully taking them one at a time I soon found myself the kitchen, watching Esme as she slowly stirred a small saucepan which emitted a sweet smell, I quietly shuffled to one of the bar stools that had been uncovered "would you like any help" I offered

"No thank you Bella just relax" I nod but can't help but feel bad as I watch Esme cook for me, after only a few minutes Esme places a bowl of my favourite mushroom soup, I thank her as I slowly start it "Bella we need to talk about yesterday" she speaks after I have eaten few mouthfuls

"What is there to talk about" I had expected this but I had not wanted it to be so soon "we talked yesterday"

"I know Bella, I am" I shot Esme an apologetic look as I picked up my phone that had interrupted her

"It's Charlie"

"You should answer otherwise he will get worried" I nod before answering

"Bella where are you" I felt guilty for not telling Charlie where I was sooner as I could hear the worry that liaised his usually calm voice

"I'm sorry dad I should have told you, I would be leaving early but I promise I will be home soon" I felt the heat rise in my cheeks as the lie fell from my lips, I hung up soon after and turned back to Esme

"You should finish your breakfast, I'm sorry I couldn't offer you something more"

"It's fine, I'm not very hungry anyway" I smiled looking down at the nearly full bowl

"Bella you ate hardly anything, what did you eat yesterday"

"I'm fine, I'm just not hungry, thank you for the soup but I should get back home, I'm sorry about last night"

"Alright I'll drive you back home" Esme was so sweet I could not understand why she wanted to be around me

"You don't have to, I can walk" I slipped off the chair

"No, Bella, I'll drive you, come on" I followed her from the kitchen, into the hall, I looked around for my jacket but it was nowhere to be seen, I felt a tap on my shoulder ad turned around to see Esme with my coat and shoes in hand "I dried them" she smiled putting my shoes on the floor before helping my put my coat on

The drive back was covered in a comfortable silence as I rested my head on the window watching the world pass by in a blur, the greens and browns mixing, in an unnatural beauty that I don't know how I missed over the past months but when I could no longer feel the gentle hum of the engine, "thank you for everything Esme" I said as I slipped out the car, the empty hole now in place of the warm whole feeling Esme provided, as I started walking up the driveway, Charlie opened the door dressed ready for work, Charlie came up to me wrapping his arms around me.

When he pulled away he looked behind me a confused expression pulled over his features, "Mrs Cullen" he asked as I turned around, Esme had followed me from the car and was now walking over to us her usual kind smile stretched across her lips

"Good morning, Cheif Swan and please call me Esme, Mrs Cullen makes me feel old"

"Please Esme call me Charlie, what are you doing back I thought you moved, is everyone back" I could tell he was worried but also angry but I couldn't completely work out why

"No" she shook his hand with a light smile "it's just me, I missed Forks too much, I saw Bella and offered her a lift back, I'm sorry for keeping her" we all headed inside as Charlie and Esme so they could continue their conversation out of the rain that usually blanketed the town, they headed into the living room as Esme nodded for me to go upstairs so I could no longer hear their conversation but as I started up the stairs the dark feeling consumed me. As I shut my door it became so unbearable I could barely stand I don't remember the pain being this bad hoping it would stop I slid down my wall and started to sob silently.
