Chapter 19 - Shock I

Ash's Group

It was finally time, to get a little higher in the rankings. It was time for my battle. Accompanying me are Brock, Clemont and Bonnie. The rest had gone to watch Serena's performance. Goh wanted to watch the battle, but Chloe pushed him to go to the performance, and we all knew well that we had a new relationship in our group.

I waved my goodbye to the group and went back, where I meat Olympia. She smiled at me and said, "Welcome back to the Anistar Gym, Ash." I gave one of my huge grins and said, "Well, thank you, I am glad to be back and ever ready to win this battle." "Oh, I bet you are, because I am expecting someone special to be on your team today." I smirked, knowing what she meant.

Soon, we were facing each other, with our pokeballs in our hands, as the drone rotom counted down. At the count of 1, we sent out our pokemon. "Go Sigilyph" "Go Pikachu".

And the match began...

Serena's Group

"I should be moving now, Chloe, be sure to watch me.", I said as I saw Chloe's eyes turn serious and she nodded at me. After that, I departed for back stage, preparing for a new performance. I was hoping to see some old faces, and I was not disappointed. I saw Miette in the performance room, as she turned from her pokemon and her gaze landed on me. She smiled and waved at me, "Hey Serena!" I smiled at her back and I ran towards her. I hugged her for a few moments and as we broke the hug, we bombarded each other with various questions. After taking a bit, she suddenly whispered to me, "still after As, or is he still for grabs?." This time, I did not loose my composure and whispered to her, "I'm sorry to shatter your hopes, but we are dating". She looked at me with wide eyes and then smirked, "Tell me everything after."

I and Goh took our seats in the back of the hall, where you could easily see everything happening. And soon, the lights dimmed and the show began. Out on the stage, Monsieur Pierre announced the first round, it being baking. The contestants were suppose to come in a group of four and bake pokepuffs, while some Pokepuff Connoisseurs would judge them. "Today among our judges we have Mr. Cilan, former gym leader of Striaton gym, Mrs. Eliot, former chairman of the Pokepuff association, and Mr. Rod, a baker and icecream maker! And now, I would like to call out...". After five rounds, the final group containing Serena arrived on the Stage. She was bearing a smile, and elegantly made a pokepuff, and I could just make out from the judge's pokemons faces that they liked it the most, and naturally Serena moved into the second round.

After the 15 minute break, the performance resumed and one by one the winners of the first round came on the stage, showing their skills. But the one that stood out the most of the first four was the performance of a performer named Miette, but now was the time for the fifth contestant, being none other than Serena. She smiled her brightest smile and then began her performance, "Sylveon, fairy wind, Panchum, ride it.". Her pokemon obeyed her and Sylveon created a spiral of cherry blossum like fairy wind on which Panchum rode on it. "Panchum, Dark Pulse, Delphox, Mystical fire and let it ride the wind." And they rode, crashed, and created fireworks. Panchum then landed and Serena ordered, "Panchum, stone edge on the ground." And lo! The group was lifted into the sky, way past the view of the people, but they created a beautiful display of a rainy sceen on the now empty stage. But suddenly, something happened. I had watched them practice and they were to come down, but they did not, instead, the rocks came down without Serena and her pokemon...

Ash's Group

The battle had now turned into a 1v1, with Ash sending out Greninja and using his bond phenomenon and Olympia sending out Mewostic. But suddenly, in the middle of the battle, Ash and Greninja fainted

Short chapter but the aim was to move away from the non-plot points to major plot points.
