Trying to survive in a place like Night City, a city obsessed with technology and body modifications can be next to impossible for some people, so those people make do by becoming an Edgerunner, a mercenary outlaw, otherwise known as a Cyberpunk
We begin this story in the year 2076 with a bird's eye view of The Free City of Night City, an autonomous city located on the border between and North, and South California on the Pacific coast of North America. It is considered a modern multicultural metropolis of the 21st-century, overrun by corporations, corruption, organized crime and gang violence.
Rain poured down heavily on the city; the nighttime streets bathed in the neon glow of thousands of advertisements that were nigh impossible to miss, even holographic projections that reached towards the heavens themselves
As the camera changed to show the view from the street and looking upwards, the view was suddenly obstructed by a large orange holographic koi fish that swam around the city center before changing to show a lone man, heavily augmented and sporting large weapons on his back, his cybernetic eyes seeming to glitch and flicker

The scene then changed once more to show a group of police standing next to the road, the area they were standing in surrounded by holographic police tape that forbid anyone without authority from crossing without suffering from persecution where we could hear the conversation of one such police officer in his car while on the phone with a friend
Phone: "Man, thought you'd be off the clock by five. Did they keep you on call? Shit luck"
Officer: "Cap said I could leave my gun and my badge if I went home and listen to my old lady go on and on about her online shopping or whatever the hell she did all day"
Phone: "That's what you get for choosing the life of a public servant"
Officer: "It just had to fucking rain"
The officer was then drawn from his phone as he noticed someone approach his window and looking towards it, he saw it was the armed person from earlier as he looked at the man confused
Officer: "Hmm? What the hell you doin'? Back it up. Looking to get shot?-"
The man said nothing as he then pointed the barrel of one his guns, that being a modified double barrel shotgun and held the trigger, charging the gun up before releasing it to fire the gun, letting two fully powered shells fly out the barrel and into the Officer, killing him instantly and shattering the windshield of the car, splattering blood everywhere on the inside of the police cruiser
The gunshot drew the attention of the other officers in the area as they all turned to face him with their weapons drawn, the man reloading his shotgun without a care in the world as dozens of officers open fired on the man, the bullets failing to pierce his armored skin
Placing the shotgun on his back, the man then unholstered two pistols from a set of holsters on his waist before turning to fire at the crowd of officers with clean precision, taking down an officer with every bullet fired before a small cannon emerged from his left arm and fired a rocket that struck a group of them that were hiding behind a bus stop as cover while they fired, the resulting blast tearing them apart
