Running out on the Edge

Lucky You

This chapter's gonna be a bit all over the place so apologies if things get a little confusing as it was for me too when writing this

No POV 

We begin this chapter with David as he was staring, horrified at something and time being slowed down while Maine was shouting something at him, no audible words being heard at all. We then get the sight of Dorio and Kiwi as they were running before the scene then changed to show Y/n who was currently mid-air, seemingly hit by an unknown force. 

As this happened, David was slowly knocked to the side as time then resumed and a massive explosion rung out through the area as everything cut to black 

---Earlier---

We now get a sight of Maine and Dorio as they were both sitting inside of the most exclusive bar in all of Night City, The Afterlife. What was once a morgue from back in the day when they did proper burials, now turned into an underground bar where the who's who of mercenaries and first-rate Fixers gather to relax or conduct top of the line business. 

The scene then changed to show a view of different cameras around the Arasaka Estates within North Oak, Westbrook

Maine: "Any movement?" 

Dorio: "Dead. Nothing in, nothing out"

Maine: "Motherfucker" 

Dorio: "Faraday had it right. He swapped venues"

Maine: "Ah, dropped the ball on this. Sorry-ass lost cause by now"

Dorio: "Saka cleanin' house over a stolen stretch? Can't be it"

Maine: "Hmm. Thinkin' you're right. Whole thing reeks of high-risk shit. I wish Faraday tells us what the fuck we after"

Dorio: "What's that saying, 'Biggest fish is the one that got away'? Should I dig deeper on Tanaka?"

Maine: "Nah, sniffin' around 'Saka's biz is a fixer's job. It's on him to give us a lead. What would that ass-munch say, "I pay you to check the boxes off my list"" 

Dorio: "Sure, but...curiosity is killin' me. Let me sic Kiwi on him, see what she can find" 

Maine: "Ain't gonna stop you, baby doll. Meantime, you and me, let's go to town" 

The scene then showed Maine, a grin on his face as he slowly moved his arms closer to Dorio's chest, only to receive a fist to the face, causing his nose to bleed and stop his advance for a moment while she grinned at him before leaning in, running her tongue along the trail of blood until she reached his lips and the two began to kiss as Maine's hands went back to what they were trying to do before

But while they were busy, Maine's Holo implant began to ring, showing it was David who was calling, his eyes narrowing in annoyance before the scene then changed to show David as he was looking out his window and into the night sky as Maine answered 

Maine: "Bad, bad time kid. Now's bad"

David: "Uh the word. What's the word? Hadn't heard anything?" 

Maine: "Said I'd c-call if any giggy popped up"

David: "Nothing? Still nada? Take whatever you got"

Maine: "Desperate looks ugly, rookie. Why don't you try and see if Y/n's got a gig or something?" 

David: "He's got a shift at the hospital tonight, can't reach him" 

Maine: "Why you need a gig? Eds all gone? Blow your last cut already?"

David: "Not eddies, not what I mean"

Maine: "Huh?"

David: "Learnin', Learnin' the ropes, me. You can't be my crutch. Said yourself, right?"
