Lennox Monroe

Paris, France

I wake up engulfed in the white hotel bedsheets with sunlight shining through the section of the curtains that I didn't fully close.

I stretch out my arms and get up to walk toward the bathroom to hop in the shower to start getting ready for Nate and Evie's wedding day.

After getting out of the shower and wrapping up in the fluffy hotel bathrobe I walked over to sit in front of the vanity mirror. Right as I start doing my skincare routine I hear an incessant knocking on my hotel door.

"Just a second!" I shout in the direction of the door while applying the remaining moisturizer that is left on my fingertips. The knocking only gets louder. "It's 8 in the morning, what could someone possibly need?" I mumble out to myself.

I looked through the peephole seeing a panicked-looking Evie: the source of the unrelenting knocking.

I slowly swing the door open before Evie pushes my hand out of the way to barge into my hotel room.

"Yeah, come on in I guess." I smirk at her, heavy sarcasm in my tone.

I close the door and turn to see Evie flopped on her back, lying on my bed, her hair somehow flawlessly fanned out around her.

"Eves, what the hell is going on?" I sit down next to her starting to become concerned with how she's acting.

"Lennox I-"

"Lennox?" My eyes open wide and my eyebrows shoot up "Wow, the full name. Something must be really wrong." I tried to lighten the mood, but she really never calls me by my full name unless it's something serious.

She gives me a death glare at my teasing. "Yikes. Okay, sorry, continue." I prompt her to finish her earlier sentence.

"I'm getting married today, Lenn. What am I doing? I'm 25, and getting married? Next up is babies. I am a freaking baby."

"Woah, woah, woah, just calm down Evie. Take a breath and talk to me. I'm sure this is just a little bit of wedding day jitters."

I got up from the bed and walked over to grab a bottle of water and made my way over sitting back down next to Evie.

"Here Eves, drink some water and we'll talk."

"Yeah, okay." She unscrewed the cap off of the bottle and slowly brought it to her lips, taking small sips and deep breaths to calm herself down.

"What's going on Eve? This isn't like you at all."

"I think I'm just a little nervous that's all. Can I hang out in here with you until we all head over to my suite for hair and makeup?"

"Of course babes" I lean in to give her a hug and give a little kiss on the top of her head, stealing her little act of love that she usually gives me.

She looked up at me, arms still wrapped around my torso from the hug. I pushed her hair back from her face and squeezed her again.

"Lenn, can you go grab a couple of things from my room?"

"Absolutely, what do you need?"

"Um, just a few things. Actually, it may just be easier to make a list for you." She giggled and swiped the notepad and pen off of the hotel nightstand to start writing down things for me to grab.

"Jesus Eve, is there anything you actually brought over with you?" I look down as she is still adding to the list.

She adds a little heart at the end of the page and hands over the paper and her room key to me.
