YOU WALKED INTO YOUR BEDROOM WITH A TIRED SIGH, DROPPED YOUR BAG ON THE FLOOR. you looked over at your bed to see raelyn and derek cuddled close to each other fast asleep. you were so happy and relieved now to have derek back and to give into being the father he is. the way he got along so naturally with raelyn was amazing to see. she had him so wrapped around her finger it was cute. he did everything she wanted him to and did everything for her. now you had to teach him she couldn't get her way every time so it was a learning process for him to tell her no. anytime he did the puppy look on her face with the quivered lip always pulled him in. he was getting better at standing his ground for the authority part of it.
over the weeks of derek being back, he never missed a day of being away from her. he spent as much time as he possibly could with her. just recently you started letting him have one on one time with her. it's not that you didn't trust to leave derek alone with her. you knew derek wouldn't let the smallest thing come near her. you were just nervous about her being with someone new alone to watching over her. so after a few times of him watching her while you ran errands or worked, you trusted him entirely to take care of her.
though the other day there was an issue. raelyn wanted scott and stiles to watch her since she hadn't gotten much time with them as she's used to. so when you told derek they were gonna watch her one day, he was quick to become defensive and fight you on it, saying it should be him to take care of her. you knew he was jealous of her choosing them to watch her as she's constantly wanted to be around derek.
you had to assure him for a while it was only one day and they were her uncles that she wanted to hang out with. his excuse was he didn't trust anyone that wasn't him or you to be around her, and that he didn't like them. it was true. he definitely didn't like scott or stiles, he tolerated them but didn't like the two. overall he was just jealous his daughter wanted to hang out with them over him. besides, you told him putting her to bed at night was fine only reserved for him which made him happy.
aside from growing his bond with his daughter, he was still also trying to work on his relationship with you. some nights he stayed late after putting her to bed and spent time with you. the two of you spent the time catching up and you sharing photos and the items the hospital gave you after she was born. you'll never forget how his entire face lit up at his name being on her birth certificate. everything was falling into place.
