YOU LET OUT A SIGH IN FRUSTRATION WHEN SEEING THE MESS OF THROW BLANKETS ON THE FLOOR. derek, in his full wolf form, laid curled up on the blankets fast asleep. he perked up when he saw you giving a pleased purr which turned into a whine from your angry glare. his ears dropped as he stood on all fours, sulking his was toward you with his tail between his legs. he rubbed against your hip, nuzzling his face into your stomach while letting out a loud purr to soften you up.
this was something he enjoyed doing quite often. ever since he evolved into a full wolf, he love shifting and spending hours in his wolf form. at first it was quite strange but you had gotten used to it and found yourself liking this side of him. he didn't talk back and always seemed to be extra instinctive and affectionate. though with this came his heightened protectiveness. if you thought he was already protective, full wolf derek was protective by tenfold.
you had to be in his sight nearly every minute or else he'd freak out. one time he was sleeping on your shared bed and you left him be to make dinner. when he'd woken up to see you nowhere in his sight, he was growling and whining obnoxiously, it was extremely pitiful to hear. he quickly relaxed when seeing you in the kitchen. he ended up attaching himself to your hip, making sure he was pressed against you for his own comfort.
some times you didn't mind this. other times it often got a bit annoying and overwhelming. you wanted to have your own space every now and then, but with a needy wolf like derek it was often hard to do so. you loved derek more than you could possibly imagine. you loved the way he took care of you and protected you. you were aware of why he was the way he was, so you did understand his dire need nurture you and keep you safe every second of every day. but sometimes you just wanted a few minutes of space.
though derek being derek, he didn't seem to care and always attached himself to you. he knew you secretly enjoyed it.
you scratched behind his ear before walking away from him and into the kitchen. you heard him follow you, the sound of his heavy paws hitting the floor with every step he took. he whined again and brushed himself against you, continuing his soft whining at the lack of attention he was receiving.
when you continued to ignore him, he simply nipped at you making you look at him with your jaw slightly open in shock. he just gave you a smug wolfish look. he rubbed the side of his head against your stomach while keeping his eyes on yours.
