Is There Anything New?

The Lie

When Courtney got home, she saw that the house was very quiet.
There was a note on the table for Courtney saying that her family had already gone to bed.

When she got to her bedroom, she changed into pajamas and immediately flopped onto her bed.
She looked at her phone to see multiple missed calls and text messages from Rick and Yolanda.

She then heard the door slam loudly.
She ran downstairs to see a angry Sylvester storming in.
"Woah woah what happened?!" Courtney asked.
"I went to the ISA tunnels with Rick and Yolanda and we found the freaking laptop!" Sylvester said before going to the basement.
Courtney sighed and went upstairs.
Maybe this wasn't to best time to bring up anything about Cameron.
Maybe she should just not tell anyone.

The next day at school, Rick and Yolanda were talking about what happened with Sylvester.
But Courtney couldn't pay attention.
She couldn't stop thinking about Cameron and what happened last night.
"Court?" Beth asked, noticing that Courtney wasn't paying attention.
"Courtney? Earth to Courtney whitmore!" Yolanda said, waving her hand in front of Courtney.
Courtney snapped away from her thoughts immediately.
"Yeah?" She asked.
Yolanda sighed.
"Look. Sylvester is great. But he just has some, temperamental issues" Yolanda says.
Courtney nods. Her thoughts immediately run back to Cameron.

Then she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Hey Court" Cameron said.
Courtney immediately turned to face the boy with a smile.
"Hi cam!" She said.
But she immediately reminded herself to not make it to obvious that she was hanging out with him last night.

"What do you want Mahkent" Rick said angrily.
"I'm literally just saying hello to Courtney" Cameron shot back.
"Okay. You said hello. Now leave" Rick said.
"Rick, stop!" Beth whispered to Rick.
Cameron just rolled his eyes.
"Can you two please not fight? Please? This is honestly getting annoying" Yolanda said.

"Not unless this idiot stops yelling at teachers" Rick said.
"It was one time Rick. You can't get mad at me for doing it once when you did it all the time without apologizing" Cameron said, trying to keep his cool.

"Spoiled brat" Rick muttered.
But Beth and Yolanda heard.
"Rick! Really?!" Beth said.
"Wait what happened?" Courtney asked.
"Rick called Cameron a spoiled brat" Yolanda reported.
"Oh my gosh." Courtney said, putting her hand on her face.
"I'm not gonna get involved in this" Cameron said, not wanting to start a fight.
"I'll see you later?" Cameron said to Courtney.
"Yep!" Courtney smiled.
"Bye!" The two said as Cameron left.

Rick turned to Courtney.
"What was THAT about?" He asked in a serious tone.
"It's nothing" Courtney said.

"Does he know the truth?" Rick asked.
"No! Why would he know" Courtney lied.
She couldn't tell them.
At least not yet.
