Allright, Wattpad. You want romance. We all know it. But the thing is, us at The Darklands discord want darkness.

So, why not compromise...

On the discord, us dark fantasy enthusiasts got together and decided to participate in some snowball story writing. Here's a short description of what that means:

"Snowball story writing: You might have heard of this before, but it's a basic collaborative exercise: one person starts off a story with a basic situation, and then anyone else is free to add a sentence, a paragraph - as much or as little as they like. Each new writer follows on from the last, adding their own contribution and rolling with the punches of what the previous writer has given them! Embrace the chaos of the gradually growing snowball that this story can become."

Over the months of July and August of 2022, The Darklanders came together to create this glorious piece of fiction. We now present it to you in hopes that you have as much fun reading it as we had in creating it!

We welcome you to come and take a peek into Alexander's life as he battles perils to safeguard his village and finds his lost love. Buckle up your seatbelts; you might just fall off the steep plot twists!

The following snowball story was compiled from all our posts on the discord by the talented and dedicated juneamoe

It is the result of blood, sweat, and tears (mainly as a result of laughter)

We even have a cover created by the fantastic CBMokedi

Without further ado, let the story begin:

Men, Woman, Beast, Tractor

Alexander drank alone. This was odd, because he had no trouble with people. But he was a man who often found himself at the whims of the ever changing winds. He never really did feel like the master of his own destiny. This was why, today, he sat in his study nursing a small whiskey by the fireside, waiting for something that he knew was coming. He knew today was going to be special. And just as that thought entered his mind, there was a knock at his door.

Telekinetically, Alexander swung the door open. He blinked in surprise, rising from his chair. "Barley? What are you...?" Barley, gasping for air, pointed a shaking finger up the street. "The river. There's a boa climbing from the river, and it's got one of the boats--"

Alexander stared at Barley blankly for a heartbeat, then looked down at his shot of whiskey. His hand hovered over the shot glass, then reached over and gripped the entire bottle. He took a swig. "Okay," he said, finally, wiping his chin. "Let's go see about this boa."
