BB meets TT, whose presence charms everyone, due to her origins. Both notice their powers continue to expand, though that may be dangerous for Bonnie.

Damon figures out exactly what the root of the earlier prophecy actually meant and Elena reflects on the loss of her pregnancy.

Elena's POV

Another fluttering in Elena's stomach brought a tear to her eyes. Soon that sensation would only be a memory of the past. In mere minutes. She wiped her tears when she heard Ric and Caroline arrive in his car. This was absolutely no time to get sentimental, when she had a job to do.

"You should really get out of Mystic Falls, it will be safer for everyone," Valerie said softly.

"Caroline and Ric need to be safe for the twins, the rest of us have the magic dust that can't be siphoned," Elena quickly replied. "I really want to just get this over with, I don't want to be another danger magnet while I'm carrying. Kai's already killed me once,"

Call it the pregnancy hormones but Elena was just spewing what she was sure everyone was thinking. The Heretics, the Originals, hell, even the Salvatores wouldn't have even come to this town if it wasn't for the fact that she was a doppelgänger. So many people close to her had died or gotten hurt just to keep her safe and Caroline and Bonnie usually got the worst of it. Stefan became a monster when he left with Klaus after his hybrid ritual and Elena knew now all too well what that guilt was like. It was what tormented her now, feeling as if everything revolved around her, her blood, her doppelgänger, her life to protect. Now she was pregnant with twins she came to find out didn't even belong to her and all of this was going on while her best friend was being targeted by an eighteen year old demented coven leader.

Being pregnant made her an easy target, and Elena intended to make sure that Bonnie wasn't left behind in consideration. She would not let anyone drop everything they were doing to aid in Bonnie's safety just to protect her and the babies which would default to top priority. They were helpless unborn children, of course they needed protection! Additionally, she would not abandon her lifelong friend, her sister in another form. The twins in her room were transported from Jo's womb to Elena's by her coven in order to preserve their lives. It was a last resort to ensure there was another heir to the throne reserved for the coven leader. So that one day they would take power over Kai himself once they merged. Their lives were just as important and in dire need of protection, so they were placed in a sturdy, nearly indestructible vampire womb.

Only there couldn't be a competition for who to keep safe from Kai with how powerful he'd gotten, merging his coven's magic with Bonnie. If it came down to her or the twins, Elena knew Bonnie well enough to understand she'd put them first, and she'd expect everyone to do the same. It was why Elena decided if there was anyone else available to carry the twins, the job should go to them. And Caroline, who had always wanted a family and was feeling fresh out of one, volunteered, after excessive assurance from Elena herself that this was for the best. She'd have Stefan and Ric by her side through it all, and they'd be in a safe place. No one needed to know how crushed she truly was inside over the loss of the love she thought she would get to behold.
