CHAPTER ONE.

Hayley and Elijah had just returned from killing the witches in the crypt, after Hayley had given birth and been killed, returning as a hybrid.

It started to pour with rain in New Orleans. The downpour unrelenting.

They walked upstairs. Hayley went straight to the nursery, seeing her baby girl asleep in her cot. Klaus watching over her.

The sound of the rain hitting the tin roof of the compound were like bullets firing in a rifle range.

Klaus looked out the window, his wolf senses kicked in, the tingling feeling at the back of his neck screaming at him. He walked to the window and looked down at the Street.

Elijah walked into the nursery in a hurry.

"The streets are flooding in moments it has already become a metre high," Elijah announced perturbed, his usual calm manner leaving him..

"We need to leave. We have seen this all over the world in past centuries. Once it comes it will only rise. New Orleans is renowned for its flooding. Hope is mortal, we need to get to the boat," Klaus asserted briskly.

"We have a ship, it is getting to the dock that is a problem," Elijah replied with a frown.

"I'm not leaving the pack to drown." Hayley barked at them both.

"Would you leave your newborn daughter to save a motley pack of wolves?" Klaus sneered, "You will not drown, but they will unless they get to high ground. Our daughter is my concern, not your wolves." He snapped.

In a more considerate mild tone Elijah said, "Hayley, in times of natural disasters we must fend for ourselves, your newborn baby is a priority, you also need to complete your transition and we need to move fast otherwise we will be swimming out of here," Elijah warned her, walking to Hope in her cot. Elijah looked at Klaus.

Klaus nodded lifting Hope from the cot, Elijah pricked Hope's foot.

"Hayley come," Elijah commanded.

Hayley reluctantly walked to Hope and kissed the blood from her tiny foot completing her transition.

"Pack everything you need for Hope and yourself now," Klaus demanded of Hayley as the rain pounded harder on the roof of the compound drowning their voices out.

"We have a motorboat in the garage. We will need that to get to the dock. The water level has risen another metre Niklaus. I will pack and gather all the blood bags we have." Elijah announced whooshing away.
