Gina woke up to the sound of pots and pans rustling downstairs, and the faint sound of the stove either being turned on or off.

She stared at her ceiling as all of her senses got back together. She was in California, Not DC. She was living with her parent's best friend, not with her parents. And she felt lonely, the worst feeling.

Gina almost laid back down at the thought of being anywhere but home. Just when she was about to Cameron knocked on the door.

"You can come in." Gina didn't turn towards him so the boy sat on the edge of the bed facing the opposite way.

"You good?" He asked looking at the blank ceiling in front of him.

To say he cared about the addition in the household would be an understatement. Cameron was worried when his mom told him that she would be coming to stay for the year. How does a parent just leave their child to go to a different country, nonetheless leave her with people she hasn't seen in years.

"I guess." Gina shrugged taking a breath and falling back on the bed. Cameron glanced down at her before laughing making her laugh as well.  The awkwardness between the two couldn't be taken seriously for long.
