7 days.

7 days of running, defending, surviving and repeat. Your body is sore and your stamina had surpassed its limit 2 days ago. 7 days and yet you barely encountered a demon that showed hostility towards you.

They either ran away or let themself be beheaded. It doesn't take a genius to know that he's found you and he remembers you.

You sighed as you look up to see the survivors of this selection. There from the tree you leaned on with crossed arms you saw exhausted and determined survivors, the majority of them looking back at you with a spark of recognition in their eyes. You nod at them as a small congratulations for surviving as they did the same.

Half of the slayers survived and half did not, just as you expected. The girl from the first night was being held up by some other survivor, it was obvious that she's having trouble breathing especially with her hunched over position.

You approached her, not bothering to look at the slayer that supported her figure as you took her and laid her down on the dirt ground.

The slayer that was supporting her gave you an inquisitive look before you gestured him to lean down to your crouched figure. "let her rest her head on your lap, it'll help her breathe better and here, make sure she drinks this" you said as you held out a flask with water in it.

The hesitation was obvious with how he stared at the flask but before he could question it, you grabbed his hand and put the flask in it. "it's just water, she's showing signs of dehydration. Make her drink it if you don't wanna be the cause of her death." Giving him a tap on the back before you stood up and made your way back to where you previously were.

The twins started speaking as you quickly tuned most of it out, pulling out your small notebook and writing down the total of survivors. You noted that you could use the final selections for many things such as training, seeing how much you've improved and raising the amount of surviving slayers for the final battle.

You had so much to get done, you considered crossing off a few ideas that weren't really necessary to maintain the plot and the development of some characters.

You only snapped out of your thinking state when someone tapped your should twice, you looked up from your small notebook to see Kiriya smiling up at you.

"You must pick the ore of your choice now, you are the only one left." he said as he gestured to the empty surroundings, you blinked before your eye twitched at the sound of an agitating voice by your other shoulder.

"CAW! BOOK WORM! CAW CAW!" A crow screamed by your ear as it flapped its wings, effectively slapping you with its wings as you remained stiff with a deadpan on your face.

You didn't bother wondering how it got there without you noticing as you often have tunnel vision whenever you think.

You slammed your notebook shut before giving a forced smile to the twins and grabbing your crow by the neck. It let out humanly choking noises as it exaggerated the force of your grip.

"will you shut up, I'm barely gripping your neck"

"CAW! BAD OWNER! BAD OWNER!"

Your eye twitched as you let out a loud defeated sigh. You turned to the twins whom looked as if they were sympathising with you with a sweat drop.

Kanata blinked before gesturing to the table that had the remaining ores on it. There were 3 left, but you didn't really mind.

Ores are ores, it doesn't matter what you pick, as long as your swordsmanship stays as good as it is you don't have to worry about a broken blade. You went up to the table and went to reach for the first ore, you blinked before glancing at the twins who were now beside the table.

Both were seemingly cringing at the ore you were about to pick as you deadpanned, moving your hand to reach for the second ore they seemed to cringe more as you stared at them in amusement before reaching for the third one.

Seeing how they seemed to relax more at the sight of you choosing the third ore, you quickly picked up the ore and looked at it for a moment with a sweat drop.

'huh, I guess ore choice does matter..' you looked back and forth between the ore of your choice and the two ores you did not pick. Your eyes slightly widened in amazement as you realise the ore you picked was more shinier than the other two.

You shrugged before giving the ore to the smiling twins, they were about to speak but you cut them off by raising a finger and said "My sword will be delivered when it's done, got it, I'll get going now. Make sure to get home before dark."

You casually spoke just as you casually grabbed your wrapped uniform in Kiriya's hands and turned to leave. They blinked in confusion before bidding their farewells.

You returned the farewells as you quickly added,"make sure your father sees the letter and drink a lot of water after eating candy" just like that you made your way back to the Inn, ignoring the yells of protest from your crow as it complained about your grip on its neck still.

It even tried to play dead once but you scared it out of its facade after jokingly saying that you had free dinner. At some point you just got tired and let the crow go.

It sat on your shoulder in a petty demeanor as it talked and talked, never stopping like some kind of machine.

"Will you ever stop talking?"

"wIlL yOu eVEr sTop tAlkInG"

"Are you mocking me?"

"Are yOu mOcKiNg mE?"

"I'm a stupid crow."

"iM a StuPi-.."

You raised a brow at its sudden pause as you smirked, you threw more insults on its way as it openly showed its dramatic nature by using its wings to express its offended state.

You eventually got bored and asked for its name, it didn't respond. You paused in your tracks to look at your crow realising that it was ignoring you purposely now. You deadpanned at the crows pettiness before continuing your walk to the Inn.

At the silence, it was inevitable to fall deep into thought. You just had to wait for your uniform and blade then you'll be off to two more stops before you get involved on the main plot. One of those stops being tougher than the other but other than that you knew the day you meet Kamado Tanjiro was nearing.

You'll have to ask Shinjuro for some money to buy medical equipment for your next stop. You sighed thinking you weren't gonna make another stop at the Rengoku estate.

You shook your head as you cleared your thoughts, these past few days are the only days you'll be taking a break in a long time so it's better to use it to procrastinate after dealing with a few more notes.

You groaned at the thought of having to write more notes so you slowed time in order to avoid wasting more time and get more to rest and procrastinate. You ignored your crow's confused state as you picked up your phase and began running.
