Getting back into bed, Chan removes his shirt and cuddles Minho into his chest. Minho closes his eyes, reminiscing in the sound of Chan's beating heart.
As Minho's about to fall asleep he hears a notification go off on Chan's phone—a message notification. Minho's plays asleep, wanting to just be held, but Chan shuffles away and reaches for the phone. With one eye open, Minho watches as the room illuminates from Chan's screen. He can hear Chan typing a reply.
"Who's that?" Minho has to ask even if it makes him sound jealous. In reality, he already knows who they are.
"San." Chan replies, still typing.
Minho bites his tongue. He knows it's not San. Though he doesn't want to start an argument. "Can't you message him in the morning?" Minho reaches for Chan's shoulder to pull him back into bed.
"Yeah, just a tic." Chan shrugs Minho off.
Minho sits up and moves to look over Chan's phone. Chan instantly turns his phone off before Minho can read anything. The room is dark again, but Chan can feel Minho's eyes burning holes into him.
"It's nothing." He says, kissing Minho's forehead.
Minho wants to let it slide like he did then. Yet he wonders if he confronted Chan could things have been different. Even if things won't change now, he can change his memories to some degree.
"Babe?" Minho rests his head on Chan's shoulder. He's unsure if he should say that he knows who Chan is talking to.
Chan hums, laying down he strokes Minho's hair.
"Chan." Minho says this time with a stern voice.
Chan stops stroking Minho's hair and sighs. "It's just someone from my major. We're working on the final project together. Since we're graduating this year, we need it to be perfect."
"Is it him?"
"Yes." Chan sighs as he rolls over to face Minho. "Now, let's sleep."
Minho can't sleep. He wishes he saw all the signs then. He's angry not just at Chan, but himself for being so oblivious. "Can you please keep more distance from him?" Minho mumbles.
"Okay." Chan replies, but it's too quick for Minho's liking.
"Chan. I know he likes you. He's been following you for over a year. It's selfish of me to ask this, but I don't like him." Minho rolls over to hide his face. He's not sure if he can have this conversation if he has to look Chan in the eyes.
Chan places a hand on Minho's waist. "Baby, I would never cheat on you."
"Then why do you have that fucking hickey!?" Minho lashes out, throwing the covers off as he sits up.
Chan sits up too, his eyes begin to water under Minho's intense star. "I didn't want him too..."
Minho is unsure how to react. He wants to be angry, but he can't leave his last memories as bad ones. He can't repeat history. Even if he's fated to. Seeing the tears fall down Chan's cheek, Minho pulls his boyfriend into his chest.
Chan clutches at Minho's back. His cries of pain echo throughout the house. "We... w-we were drinking. It was just meant to be a little celebration as a group. T-then he climbed onto my lap..." Chan sniffles as he tries to keep his words coherent. "I pushed him away. Truly. I went to leave bu-but he followed me. He pinned me to the wall. I've told him multiple times that I'm not interested." Chan looks up at Minho, his eyes just as red as when he first came back. "You believe me, right?"
Minho's words are stuck in his throat. It's not because he doesn't believe Chan—he fully believes each syllable. It's because Chan never spoke to him about the situation. "I'm sorry for getting angry." Minho holds Chan, trying to blink his own tears back.
"I-I'm the one that should be sorry." Chan cries. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay, I believe you. It's late so let's go to sleep." Minho speaks softly as he lays their bodies down—keeping Chan's head to his chest. He helps calm Chan with the steady beating of his heart.
