Chapter Nine, Holidaying in Santorini

Summer had finally arrived and with it the holiday to Santorini. The moment Charlie, Imogen and Jasper arrived at their resort in Santorini Jasper immediately closed his eyes, soaking up the hot sunshine with his eyes closed tilted towards the sun for the first time in nearly two hundred years. That had been one of the things Jasper had missed the most. Growing up in Houston, Texas, Jasper was used to the hot scorching sunshine and would spend hours playing outside with his siblings once their chores had been completed and the horses on their ranch attended to, and even had a tanned complexion to match the hours spent in the sun growing up.

However, after he had been attacked by Maria and forced to become a vampire and therefore join her coven, he had no longer been able to spend hours in the sun without showing off what he had been turned into by his skin sparkling like diamonds had been embedded into his skin. His tan had faded until it disappeared into a pasty white complexion which made his honey-blonde curls, and blood-red/golden eyes stand out unnaturally. That is until he met his wonderful mate Imogen Sierra Swan and her best friends and coven members Ella Núñez and Leah Clearwater. The three girls had given him a gift he'd never be able to repay.

As long as he was wearing the ring he had his brown eyes back, he could eat, drink and sleep and he could spend time in the sun without sparkling which allowed him to join Charlie and Imogen on this holiday. He truly didn't know how he had gotten so lucky but he would be forever grateful and would never take this gift of his Sunshine for granted. He couldn't; he loved her with all that he was and all that he would be. She made him want to be a better man and that's what he would be.
"Jazz? You okay?" Imogen asked, concerned, resting her hand on his forearm pulling him from his thoughts. Looking at the girl he loved Jasper audibly gulped upon noticing Imogen had removed her blue dress and stood before him in a red bikini that highlighted her tan and accentuated her figure.

"I'm perfect, darlin'." Jasper reassured her, pulling her into his arms and kissing her lovingly with his hands on her waist. Until he suddenly picked her up and threw her in the pool making her scream with laughter.
"Jasper!" Imogen screamed laughing, splashing him as she resurfaced causing happy, belly laughs to pull deep from within Jasper as he took off his shirt and sunglasses, tossing them onto the sun-bed behind him, kicked off his sandals and jumped into the pool beside Imogen. While Imogen and Jasper were having a water fight in the pool, Charlie sat on the sun-bed sipping his beer with a wide grin on his face as he watched the loved up pair. He loved seeing the pair so happy and was so proud of how far the pair had come.

He loved Jasper like a son and would - way further down the line - welcome him into the family with open arms. However, they didn't know that soon their happiness would be shrouded by a dark cloud with pain, loss and war soon arriving on their doorsteps with the arrival of Isabella Swan and the meeting of Edward Cullen. Would they be able to weather this storm together? Or will they succumb to its darkness? That is something only the Spirit Warriors and the ancestors know.
