Chapter five

Elizabeth Pov

We're waiting in the bar of the guild hall for the test to begin

DM:"Good morning Excipal"

Me:"Good morning Drauvauk"

DM:"We know a spot close to town where you can show us what you can do after the test"

Receptionist:"All participants of the rank up test please gather in the training file behind the building"

Me:"See you later"

DM:"See you later"

I walk to the field, it has a fenced in circle with an attached cage to fight monsters, targets for short range and targets for long range practice

Tester:"The first part of the test is that you show us your primary attack form and then your secondary. After that you show us non combat skills. The last part is a fight against a low level demonic beast. I'll call out names, you show us, then get out of the way and wait for the next time your name gets called"

Tester:"Excipal Sternemann"

After some waiting I get called

I go to the long range targets, shoot some ice spikes, create an Ice layer on the floor and cool the area around the targets. I had to limit my power immensly or the target would've ended as an ice block

Tester:"An Ice mage"

Then I take out a small dagger I got from the mercenarys and show the samll amount of skill I have with handling it

Tester:"Next"

I get out of the way and wait for the next part, the other participants don't miserably fail or ace the tests

I get called again

Tester:"Excipal Sternemann"

I show the small heal spell I know with massivly reduced power so It doesn't have the power from a priest and It doesn't hurt Alex and myself, the resistance to poisons and demonic effects I have

Tester:"Next"

Tester:"Excipal Sternemann"

I enter the ring and prepare for combat, the gate to the cage opens and a demonic rabbit exits. It is as big as a dog, it immeadiatly runs at me

I wait for the last second then dodge, I fire ice and cold at it. It evades the ice but gets slower because it's weak against cold. It tries again to attack me but I evade and repeat my last attack, it evades again but I hit it with the dagger and kill it

Tester:"Monster killed fast and effienctly, Tynyl Marblefeast (Fake name of Gimdain Cerdurihr) told me that you're good and he didn't lie"

The last combat tests are performed and we wait for the Tester to give us our new ranks

Tester:"Excipal Sternemann you've been promoted to rookie rank adventurer"

We're all dismissed, DM and his party walk to me

DM:"Ready to show us what you can in a real situation"

Me:"Yes I'm ready"

We walk out of the town and walk into a forest on a trail that appears to be formed by animals, after some time we enter a big clearing with a smal lake at one side

Rouge:"I don't think you're ready to be an Adventurer"

Me:"And why is that?"

Rouge:"You followed us blindy into the forest without having you're guard up and you know us since yesterday. Naivity is the death of adventurers"

Me:"And that's were you're wrong. Did you notice any demonic beasts on our way here?"

Rouge:"No I did not as there weren't any"

Me:"There are demonic herbs in this part of the forest wich attract demonic beasts, I know this because I got on a quest lookink for a particular one"

DM:"She's right normaly there's at least one beast here. Why aren't there any?"

Alex:*Tell them you used demonic herbs to imitate the presence*

Me:"Because I knew of the herbs, I got a mix that imitates the demonic presence of a higher beast to scare them of. It would be bad for beings normally but as I have a resistance means I have no problem"

DM:"Unarora, can you verify that?"

Healer=Unarora:"Yes she has a demonic presence, covers a smaller distance than that of normal beasts but imitates that of a stonger one"

Me:*Thanks Alex*

DM:"So the only thing we need to see is if you can fight in the real world"

Tank:"I know of the sleeping den of an demonic Boar, it belongs to a subspecies that reacts to presences higher than them with agression"

DM:"Kill it and bring back proof"

Me:"And I assume I'm going to be watched by Mrs Rouge here"

Rouge:"Yes"

Me:"That was a rethorical question"

Tank:"The den is in that direction"

 He points in a direction and I start walking

After a bit I stop and activate my mana vision, I immeadiatly know where it is and where the best positions to attack are. There are many plants with a bit of mana here fesulting in me having a very good picture of the area. I position myself on a higher part where I can look down on the Boar, it's already enraged because it senses my demonic presence but it doesn't know where I am

I jump and cast all of my ice magic a bit more powerful than during the test but still not even half power, the Boar turns, slips and gets wounded from the ice spikes. It gets up and runs full speed at me, I dodge and it misses. The Rouge looks like he wanted to intervene as he didn't think I could dodge. It rams into a wall, I take out the dagger and throw it at the head of it when it turned towards me as it wanted to run at me again. The dagger hits in the eye and penetrates deep enough to hit the brain, killing it

I remove it's tusks and head for the clearing

Me:"So Mrs Rouge, were you worried for me. It looked like you wanted to intervene at one point as you thought I wouldn't make it"

Rouge:"My name is Galaxy not Mrs Rouge"

Me:"How should I've nown that as no one told me your name"

DM:"Wait, you told her your name?"

Galaxy nods

Me:"Is that weird for him?"

DM:"She only tells her name by herself if she think somebody meets her standards"

Galaxy:"She noticed me preparing to intervene to save her while fighting the Boar and didn't recieve any injuries. She doesn't have much experience but she could become a good fighter with time"

DM:"Okay if you say she can join, does anybody have any concerns of her joining us for the quest?"

They shake their heads

DM:"So we walk back to the guild continue preparing for the quest with her now involved, while we walk there you can introduce yourself to her"

Tank:"Grydan tamneneg, my armor is heavy but I can take the damage while you deal it"

Healer:"Unarora, if you have any injuries come to me and I'll heal them"

Alex:*Yeah no, it's unlikely that if we get enough injured to overwhelm your regneration that she can help. Her holy magic is only going to make it worse*

Monk:"Lumogash, I'm the one for close quarters. If you need a new door I can make one"

Me:"I'm Excipal Sternemann, If you need to cool down get me"
