28: Backup

(There will be some early talk about Christmas- if you don't celebrate it, That's fine! It wont be too important to the story. :])

"Sunnyyy..." You frowned.
"Y/N! Y/N!" Gregory yelled with a smile. You turned around, and he gave you a tight hug. "Good morning!!"
"Good morning Gregory!" You ruffled his hair. "-What would you like for breakfast?"
"Huh? OH! Anything is fine!"
"You sure?"
"Mhm!"

You turn around to say something to Sun, But when you turned to, He wasn't there. You let out a heavy sigh. "Hey Gregory? How about you go find Freddy? I'll cook you something to eat."
He nodded quickly. And ran off to find his metal dad.

That you did. You cooked the kid some pancakes, with eggs and bacon.
You took a quick peek out of the window. You noticed snow, Even though it didn't cover much of the ground, It was snowing out. Made you wonder. . . 'Do I live in the same area I used to. . ?' You chewed the inside of your cheek. And brought the food over to Gregory. Who was being taught math, By Freddy once again.

You hummed a bit. "Soo. . . Gregory, Christmas is coming up, Do you have anything you'd like?"
"Mmm. . . I dunno. A phone would be cool!"
"A phone? Hmm. . . I could figure something out." You say with a small laugh. "-What about you Freddy?"

His ears perked up. "Me? I think I'm content with everything right now." The bear gave you a small smile.
"Are you sure? There's nothing at all you'd want?"
"Well, Maybe some textbooks for Gregory." Freddy laughed a bit. And Gregory pouted. "Noooo! Come on Freddy! Not during the holidays!"

You talked with them, For a little bit longer, before leaving to find Sun. He was, In your room as expected. Sitting on the floor infront of your bed.
You sat next to him. He let out a small sqeak, when you leaned on him a little.

You decided to just get straight to the point. "Why have you been avoiding me?"
"WHAT?? No No No! I haven't!"
"You went out of the way to not talk to me yesterday. You wrote me a note."

Sun didn't respond that time. Just curled his legs to his chest, and stared at the floor again.
"I don't think you hate me. . . I mean, Those were pretty good waffles." You tired to sound as lighthearted as you could.
"I do not hate you! I swear!" His voice seemed a little bit panicked.

"Okay. . . Could you tell me what's wrong?" You frowned.
". . I just-" He stopped talking. You could tell that Sun was also stressing out. After a bit, You sighed, And started to stand up. "It's fine. I was wondering-" He grabbed your hand. "N-No. . . Please don't leave- I wanna talk- I. . . Don't know how to. . " And once again, He cut himself off.

You sat down again. "Alright. Take your time." You hummed.
"I. . Uhm- I don't-" Sun put a hand over his mouth, like it was going to stop him from talking.
It seemed as though he was trying to not say too much.
"YOU KNOW WHAT-" Sun laughed nervously, and stood up quickly. "I'll- I'LL LET MOON TAKE CARE THIS!" And so, He turned off the lights.

You heard Moon mumble, Almost directly afterwards. "Coward. This isn't even my issue, Why would I help?" Moon was quiet when saying this, But you definitely heard. And of course, You stayed quiet.
Moon sat down next to you. "Alright. Fine. Sun wants me, to tell you, that he 'doesn't want, to accidentally upset you.'"
You stared at them for a moment. "Why couldn't he just say that?"

Moon huffed. "He's embarrassed."
"Is there anything else?"
"Uh, Yeah. But it's quite a mouthful."
"Go on."

Moon didn't say anything, for a hot second, Almost like he was trying to rehearse the next few sentences.
"Okay, Sun says, 'You're basically the one in charge,' and he doesn't want to 'get kicked out.' Nor does he want to 'disappoint you.'-" Moon paused for a second, Before speaking again.
"-There was a lot more, But thats the main point he tried to cover."

You pursed your lips. "Kay. . . Could I talk to him again?"
"Sun says, And I quote, 'In a minute, I want to mentally prepare myself. ' Hmm. . Maybe not that exactly, but you get it."

"Oh. Sure thing-" Moon cut you off. "-Im still going to turn back on the lights though. He forced me into this situation, Im forcing him."
Moon stood up, And went for the light switch.
Before he turned off the lights, He gave you a grin. "See you later Y/n~"

Sun flinched. And sat down, Right where he was standing.
"Sun. . ." You carried out the 'U' And 'N'. "-Why would I ever be disappointed in you? I mean, Nor will I ever kick you out."
". . . Why?"
"Why what?"
His rays retracted. "Why have you been so nice to us?"
You didn't respond for a moment. As this caught you a tad bit off guard, You didn't exactly know what to respond with.

"I. . Is there a reason I shouldn't be?" Frankly, You didn't believe you were extremely nice to them, But still.
"I dunno." Sun started to fidget with the ribbons on his wrists.
After years of you oberving people, You learned a few things.
For example, He did know a reason. Just didn't want to, Or maybe felt too embarrassed to share it.
Even though he IS a robot, Body language still tells a LOT.

Although you knew he wasn't telling you something, You went along with it a bit. "Exactly. I don't think there is. . . Besides, My guilty conscience would forgive you anyways, If you did ever offend me." You held a joking tone when saying this, But you weren't exactly joking.

Giving Sun a smile, You stood up. "Wanna do something?"
He perked up. "Hm?"
"Like. . . We could find something to do, somewhere in this house. Whaddya say Sun? Just me and you."
