(Midterms are over! I should be able to start updating a book once a week again, or soon enough at least. :])
—(End of Chapter 36):
"
"You didnt kill him, right? Come on, what are we going to do if he calls someone on me?" You started to complain, your voice getting louder, but your annoyed expression turned into confusion and you noticed his irritation turning cheeky. "Ahh... so you aren't mad at me for hurting him. But cut me some slack, it's been a hot minute since I did that."
Staring at his arm, you put down the washcloth, and as he notices your slight concern, his mocking tone disappeared as he shrinks back a bit."If you're worried, don't be. He won't call anyone, he doesn't want you in jail. It'd make his job harder." He tried assuring you, taking back his arm off the table.
"
—•The previous chapter has been aggressively edited after a few days of its release•—
There was a knock at the basment door, and your first suspicions was Gregory, though he might've gone to bed already.
It was just Freddy.
A silence fell over for a moment, as Freddy noticed the both of you, especially taking more time after you pulled your arm quickly back to it's side. That doesn't look suspicious in anyway. . .right?"Oh, you both are here-" The bear mumbled, and it took you a moment to notice he probably was focused on the bloodied washcloth, and fact that it was clearly being washed off Moon, but all embarrassment aside, at least Moon was more busy glaring holes into the floor.
"Some . . . Purple letter, came through the mailbox, Y/n. It's another lottery ticket." Freddy finally explained why he was there.Though it didn't make sense to you at first. "Wait what? Another?" You mumbled. Did you have a lottery ticket before? Oh. Oh, yeah, you did. Freddy probably remembers since you asked him to scratch it off for you, feels like years ago by now, even though it was probably just a few months.
"Did you check it?" You asked, turning on your chair, and standing up. The last ticket felt like years ago by now, though it must've been only a couple months at most."Did you want me too? I thought you'd want-" He shut himself up, as you finished the rest. "We went through this last time. I don't think Moon would be the safest option." You were referring to his outrageously sharp nails, but you guessed it didn't exactly sound like that. Especially by the dead set glare you felt burning into your head.
"There's another post-it on its back." Freddy added, peeling it off, and stepping down a couple stairs to hand it to you. It's exactly like the last one. A fraction, '2/3' and another fancy 'C' signature. The only difference is the number.
You could tell Freddy was trying his best not to look over at Moon OR the blood-stained cloth, but you could feel the tension thicken once the bear gave you a nod, saying, "No wonder you said you didn't trust the latter."
Freddy probably wasnt trying to be upsetting about it, it would've been just a funny, 'haha! Star-boy's a paper puncher!' Joke, if what happened earlier didn't happen at all, and if Freddy wasn't staring at the blood while saying it.You were pretty sure the Glamrock realized he was out-of-place, when he went silent, and handed you the ticket, leaving and closing the door with a very quiet 'goodnight'..
Scanning the ticket, you crumpled it up as it beamed failure to you. "As if my day couldn't get worse." You muttered, though you mostly meant it to be solely in your head, saying it putloud just made you feel awkward.
Well. . . More awkward than before, at least. If its possible. You turned your head slightly back, trying your best not to twist up your face into a grim frown, you hardly meant it, but his demeaning glare definitely did the damage it was supposed to.
You threw the cloth to its bucket, making a mental note to wash it later.
"...I'm going upstairs?" Though you wanted to tell him you were, it was also mainly an invitation to come with."Yeah, you do that, since you seem scared of me and all." He was mocking you. Atleast a bit, for being so 'upset' about him hurting Robbie. You suppose you did seem way more upset than you actually were, but this got to you a bit, as in. . . You were already kind of mad at him, this definitely made it worse, maybe even unreasonably.
You turned back away from the steps you were preparing to go up, leaving now would just be embarrassing. You had to say something, ...even if that 'something' was ruder than you wanted it to be. "The hell's your problem? How else did you expect me to react? You're always in my business!" You snapped, and once you registered what you said, you tried not to coward back.
Why would you even-?
God, that's so stupid.
If you wanted to lecture, you should've tried to sound nicer! You hated to admit it, but you were being honest."In your business? You do anything based off your emotion, and what first seems like the best option. Then you stick with it, even if it's stupid. You're so- ignorant." The both of your voices slowly got louder, as if you both were reaching for that higher authority, but hearing that fucking hurt.
Especially from him.
He was right about acting off your emotion, however it wasn't at it's best mix.
You were pissed, but also dissapointed in yourself, so you could only reply in a way that kept your pride and move the topic, even if you were only feeding the fire.
"You're trying to lecture me?! This all started because YOU were so eager to get blood on your hands! I could've handled it, if you weren't there!"
"You shouldn't have entertained it in the first place, you should've just ignored him, it's not my fault you surround yourself around those kinds of people. You live in a full house, you don't need to try and grab even more attention."
Ouch. Attention? You weren't trying to seem like an attention seeker, but somehow those words rang familiar, though you would hate to tell yourself that.
"I didn't need you there to help, or fight anyone, Moon. I don't need anyone's extra attention, and I especially don't want yours." You took a step backwards, subconsciously stepping up on the step to make yourself seem bigger and less like a midget compared to him, which was nonetheless true, but so you'd have the door right behind you. Just incase.Moon paused after that, and you almost felt guilty.
"I'm trying to keep you from getting yourself killed, or hell, whatever that damned neighbor would do.-" Obviously Moon was going to add to it, and maybe he'd let something spill, if you didn't interrupt with, "Sun tried avoiding me before, shouldn't you?" And slamming the door shut as you left the basement with heavy steps, though they slowed as you got upstairs, most of the lights were on, but all the doors were closed, well regardless you'd head to bed after a depressing reflection-shower.That night you could barely sleep. Not until nearly 6am. There was two things weighing on you.
1st off, god you felt bad. What the hell was wrong with you? On stories you used to always joke about not caring about this sort of thing. Why'd you act out? You already knew he wasn't trying to hurt you with it.
. . . Right?
Yeah.
He did it because Robbie was bothering you. Yet you acted so- but. . . Ugh.Maybe you've been losing it. You haven't been as. . .flustered as when you first met them. You could just be getting more used to them, or maybe it finally drilled in your head that there was no point in subconsciously thinking that you could have a chance one day.
Maybe you don't like them like you used to.The other reason, though. . . Moon didn't go back to the room. It was stupid you thought he would, but it pulled on your stomach. Added more guilt.
Through the cracks in the door, was a small light. Nobody keeps a light on all night. Most of the time it's all lights out.
Moon wasn't even out.
. . . What does Sun think of you? Is he going to start avoiding you again?
There goes Chica's plan.Speaking of Chica. . . What are the chances she'd help out?
She already was planning on being some sort of romance agent, she wouldn't pass this up.
You'd have to talk to her tomorrow.Chica, and maybe even Sun.
—A/N: ((I know I said this book'll be worked on less to finish other things, and it's been awhile, but don't worry!! It'll be worth it soon! I'm over halfway done with the S/M short story, and I have all the prep for the second short, along with the next story to follow when this one ends.)
(But rq on a completely UNRELATED note! I just re-read this, and oh my god this book is OUTRAGOUS, how have you guys lasted this far smh)
(The next chapter will make up for this one's lack of length I swear)
