Diwali.

The festival of light brings joy to everyone. Except for her apparently. She is dreading this. Because she has to go to her parent's house for it. In the last month that she has been with Sagar, she had forgotten how much her parent's disapproval drained her. But now, like a slap to the face, her reality is here to jerk her out of the happy cloud that surrounded her. The only good thing? She isn't alone.

The thought of going to her parent's house had her shaking with anxiety. And Sagar could never watch that. He asked if she wanted him to be there? She has never agreed to anything faster. Even though their relationship is new, it's important to them, and it's serious for them. Meeting the family is something they'll be fine with doing.

She stood infront of the mirror in her apartment. Staring at herself, she is dressed in a maroon suit. Hoping her parents don't comment on it. They find reasons to belittle her anyway. Before her self doubts crumble her, two arms wrapped around her waist and Sagar's face was rested on her shoulder. He came to pick her up so they can go to her parent's house. Later, he would go back to his own to celebrate with his family.

"It will be okay. How bad can it be?" Aditi sighed at his words. He doesn't know it. It's horrible. She didn't voice it out though. It's time for them to actually leave, or they'll be late and that would give her parents a reason to talk.

It didn't take them much time to reach their destination and her anxiety was skyrocketing. She rang the doorbell and her mother opened the door. Aditi made sure to not be late today, so she could avoid the first jab from her mother. Her mother however wasn't paying her any attention. She had her eyes fixed on Sagar who stood behind Aditi with a warm smile on his face.

"Namaste." He folded his hands in greeting and forwarded the box of sweets that Aditi herself chose.  Her mother greeted him back and welcomed them inside. Aditi had informed them of her bringing a guest, so they were prepared. Sagar met her father and sister as well. They behaved nicely. A Kapoor isn't someone you should piss off. Though it isn't very easy to get Sagar angry. He is the nicer guy out of the three brothers. The other two would rip people's heads off if they are angry.

"So what made you sign Aditi as a writer for your company?" This came from her sister. She seemed intrigued by the very handsome and polite man sitting in their living room.

"I am a fan of her work. I love how she experiments with different genres and somehow makes them all so interesting. I have been hooked to her books since the last 2 years, and I just couldn't stop, when the opportunity presented itself to work with her."

"You read her books?" The condescending tone her sister used made her want to bury herself somewhere far away. She made her work sound like trash. Like, no one would ever want to read her work, definitely not someone like Sagar.

"Now you just sound like you've never picked a book. If you did, you would know your sister is revered in that particular industry." He placed his hand on hers and opened her fists. He will not sit here and watch them insult the woman he loves.
