She turned around to look at her father, the man stood so straight and unmoving, he resembled a statue. "What is happening? Why did you bring me here?"Her father walked closer to her. "You know Aditi, you were very young when you came to me one day and said you loved me and you would do anything for me. I told you it's alright and you don't have to do anything at that time but later on in life, I'll see if there is something you can do. There is a friend of mine, who has a son. He has a nice job, secured life, I want you to marry him. He will take care of you and you can have an ideal life with him." She wasn't even surprised. This is her father.
So many years of being with him and listening to him and she still couldn't understand where the hell did he get the audacity from. "I will not be marrying him." She moved past him to leave, this is not something she wants to deal with today. "I don't think you understand, it wasn't a choice. I am ordering you to marry him."
Her fists clenched, and her blood boiled. "Too bad I am not an officer working under you. I don't take orders from you or anyone for that matter. This is my life, and I am the only one responsible for it."
"Is this a way to talk to your father? Don't you dare forget where you are. This is my house. I've raised you and you owe me!"
"Exactly! This your house. Not a home where you lived with your family or raised your children with love. You've always treated us like a project. And I am a failed one according to you. You parents think we owe you because you raised us. Well news flash, you owed us that. We didn't ask to be born, you gave birth to us so it's your job to raise us. Besides you didn't even raise me. I raised myself. And sure you gave me food and shelter but you gave me enough mental issues as repayment." She scoffed at the fact that her father could do this to her but it's her own fault too. She hoped to change them, she refused to see how they didn't wish to.
"You've never been happy for me, or for what I have. You always made me feel like a waste and now that I finally have a man that cares for me, who has given me a family much better than my very own, you want to take that away from me? What a fantastic father you are. You can't see your own daughter happy." Tears streamed down her eyes. She had never had the courage to stand up to them before, guess being with Sagar made her stronger than she thinks.
"You're doing this, talking back to your father for that man? We are your parents, he is no one. No one to you. He won't be with you for long, he is not obligated to stay with someone so broken. And if you step out of this house today, you and I will be done. You won't be our daughter."
"I never was, maa. Neither do I want to be. I don't want to be your daughter anymore. Consider me dead and move on. I know it won't be hard for you." She turned on her heels and moved out. She was done with the torture her parents had put her through. Her vision was blurry as she bumped into someone. She looked up and cried more. He is all she ever wanted. Her savior.
Sagar held Aditi's shoulders. He saw her text and had came here as soon as he could. "What happened darling?" She cupped his face. Finally realizing he is all she needs too.
"I love you Sagar. I love you so much. You're all I have." She hugged him tight, not willing to let go. He had waited to hear that from her, but not like this, not when she is falling apart. He held his girl close to his heart. "Shhh. It's okay, calm down. I love you too Aditi and I can't watch you cry like this. Come, we'll go to your house and then you can tell me what happened. Hmm?"
She nodded and pulled away, gave the house one last glance. She is never coming back here. She turned to him once again. "Sagar?"
"Hmm?"
"Would you ever marry a girl as broken and fucked up as me?"
