These are the criteria on which your book or short story is going to be judged. Judges, please give marks to the books in the format of this rubric. The rubric for poetries is given in the next chapter.

1. Cover (/10)

Is it eye-catching? Does it suit the story theme?


2. Title (/10)

Is it innovative and apt? Is it too lengthy? Does it suit the story? Does it hook the reader in?


3. Description (/10)

Is it too lengthy or too short? Does it divulge too much or too little of the story? Does it hook the reader in?


4. Plot development (/20)

Is the pacing of the story right, or is it too fast or too slow? Is the story cliched? Are there any plot holes? Are the story ideas original? Does the story flow naturally? Does it make the reader want to read more?


5. Character development (/20)

Are the characters in the story introduced appropriately? Does it help the reader form an image of the characters in their minds? Can the reader connect to the characters?


6. Grammar and Vocabulary (/15)

Is the usage of words appropriate? Are there too many spelling or grammatical errors? Does the language of the story convey the correct ideas and theme?


7. Overall enjoyment (/15)

Is the story overall enjoyable? Does it make the reader want to read more?
