Xie Lian's new personal guard is not all that she seems when a series of events reveals that she's not a just junior official and that she is destined for far more then she realised. However, she won't be going through this destiny alone.

There are many unexplainable things in the world. How deep does the ocean go? How far does the universe expand to? There happened to be a new mystery in heaven, one that not even the smartest of civil gods could explain.
How did a junior official ascend to heaven without their god?
Zhen Xiang was a simple girl living with her siblings in a town in the middle of nowhere, when one day she came across the most bizarre person. The Crown Prince of Xianle, Xie Lian. See, Zhen Xiang had a heart of gold and tried to make other peoples lives happy and comfortable all while neglecting herself. This caused her to become ill and unfortunately, die. However, before her suffering came to a close, her and the forsaken god had become good friends, almost as if they had meant to be together the entire time.
Yet when Zhen Xiang ascended, the heavens were confused. How did this peasant with no achievements or status to her name ascend, without her god no less? The truth was, she did have a great deal of achievements and a high level of cultivation for such a short period of time. The Emperor saw this and gave her a rightful place in heaven.
On one condition: she be the new personal guard for Xie Lian.
With this condition met, Zhen Xiang was determined to not only learn as much about the heaven and ghost realms as she could, she also wanted to help Xie Lian and ease his struggles. What she didn't know, was that the heavenly officials talked and they were beginning to notice that she was much stronger then any junior official should be.
But let's start this journey at the beginning with the fated meeting of a disgraced god and his future guard.
