Avner began to read the diary aloud, I sat precariously on the edge of the meadow bed, my bed, and listened as he began.

Ezra- 1802 May 4
I was taken to this strange place, with two other girls, Alice and Catherine, I can not explain it in that good of detail but in simplicity a very tall man named Osiris, he told us we had to find
6 things, we got a clue to each
1- I am the entryway to many places, hearts, safes, and diaries
2- generations back are marked, and oak or cherry blossom, doesn't matter.
3- engagement requires me.
4- envelop me, I am in Latin.
5- slowly forgotten, an acrylic
6- beat and drum, a gemstone piece.

We were told the house moves. And it did. He gave me this diary and then left.

Ezra-1802 May 5
Today is filled with much despondency. Alice was not careful, and exploring the house she was taken. Now it is only Catherine and I.

Ezra-1802 May 6
I saw the first item! It was a silver key, but the door slammed and melted before I could get inside, and then a sphinx came. Apparently this house doesn't just move, it's filled with traps too. It was in a room with a bronze door and a gryphon knocker.

"Are you kidding me." Lucas threw his hands up in frustration. "We can't get into that room, the Sphinx stays near there!"

"Well maybe that's the test." I whispered "to get each you have to something, in this case it's getting past a Sphinx."

Lucas glared at me, he was quiet but he was heard, I knew he didn't like me, which kind of hurt me. I thought he was kind of cute. You know, in like a midget way.

"Alright I'm gonna read the rest." Avner opened the book, and read, our faces fell as he continued.

Ezra- 1802 May 10
Catherine was killed by the Sphinx. She tried to get the key and now I'm alone. I was told by Osiris, if things ever get to be too difficult there was always the room with a red swirl. So I will enter there. Wish me luck.

Avner closed the book.

"Well, keep reading!" Elery prompted.

"It's over. She wrote no more."

"But," Lucas's face drained "we were told never to go in the red swirl room. Sawyer warned us!"

"Whose Sawyer?" Ivy asked, and Avner sighed, his charisma seemed to be peeling off his face with every word.

Of course Lucas had to bring up Sawyer. What freaking luck that was. I threw the useless book back on the shelf. Thanks a lot Ezra. You helped a flipping ton.

"Sawyer was the third one here. I think I told you guys that. Anyway, one day we woke up," i gestured to Lucas and myself "and he was gone, we don't
know if he died in the house, if he found a way out, or if he's still out there, not able to find his way back. He was like our guide. He was brave, and caring. He told us never to go in the red swirled room, and we listened. Of course curiosity pestered us, but we listened."

"Uh... What's that?" Ivy pointed up to a fracture in the ceiling that was beginning to glow. Everyone screamed as it exploded. I knew what it was, and I didn't like it.
