Lovers to Parents (Bucky x reader)

Separation

"Have you heard from Bucky?" Pepper asked as you were going through your third store. You had stopped obsessively checking your phone just over an hour ago, deciding you would hear from him when he had a moment. You knew what it was like to get really into your work.
"Not yet" you took out your phone and looked at it sadly.
"He's probably busy" she reassured you.
"I'm just so used to at least seeing him on my phone and talking to him once a day" you admitted softly.
"I'm sure he's rushing to come home" Wanda spoke up, and held up a sweater for you to look at.
"Not my color" you shook your head.
"How about in dark blue" she pulled up a second one and you carefully considered it. You took off Bucky's hoodie, and tried on the sweater and looked in a nearby mirror. You pulled it back off and nodded.
"I like it" you added it to your yes pile.
"I found some winter clothes for your soldier" Loki came over and rejoined your group. He offered the stack to you and you quickly went through it, noting that he had Bucky's preferences down pat. You added them to your stack and nodded.
"Thank you Loki" you gave a soft smile.
"My pleasure" he gave a swift smile.
"I'm just worried about him, you know" you went back to your previous conversation with Pepper. The four of you went to the cash register. You quickly paid for your items, and Wanda and Pepper paid for theirs. You went back to the car to drop off your bags and gave a heavy sigh, taking out your phone again. You gave into temptation and wrote to Bucky with a simple text "I miss you" before putting your phone back down.
"Do you want to stop for coffee on the way home?" Pepper slipped into the driver's seat while you got in the back with Loki.
"Sure, we missed lunch. I could use something in my stomach" you quickly nodded.
"Yeah, I'm hungry after all that shopping" Wanda gave a slight giggle.
Pepper drove with ease through traffic and stopped for a small snack and coffee for everyone. You quickly checked online how much you owed on your credit card, and made a quick payment to make sure you stayed on top of your spending. Bucky texted you back with the word "Soon" and it sent your heart a flutter. You really hoped that he meant that. You knew the mission always took precedence, but you wanted to see him. You had texted doctor Cho this morning, and she said she would be at the compound on Monday for your first look at the baby. You were glad she was good in so many different fields of work. You knew a potentially super soldier baby, and or enhanced baby was on the way and she would likely want to take plenty of notes. Bruce seemed keen to as well. You didn't care what you had, as long as the baby was healthy. You rubbed your lower stomach as you drank your tea and Loki looked over a little curiously.
"What are your plans this afternoon?" Wanda asked as Pepper was making her way back to the compound.
"I'm headed out to see the boys, make sure they are staying out of trouble" you gave a soft smile.
"They will like that. They miss having you to themselves" she seemed to approve.
"I miss our little picnic's in the parking lots" you admitted easily. "We used to have them all the time. The last six months, a lot has changed"
"Are you bringing them supper?" Pepper asked quickly.
"I'm going to grab burgers from the diner again. I know we just had them, but I have a craving" you licked your lips at the thought of one of those burgers again.
"They will love that" Wanda assured you.
"I might just bring Cloud tonight. It's been a while since it's just been us" you thought about it. "But I'd better bring Blue too"
"Blue can stay with us in our room for the day" Wanda quickly offered. "I'll bring him down before we go to bed. We have lots of toys for him to play with. It will give the adult's a bit of a break"
"Thank you Wanda" you smiled at her. "I know the rest will be fine if I just leave the balcony door open for now" you sipped your tea again.
"Any word from Bucky?" Loki asked, seeing you check your phone again.
"He just said "soon"" you shrugged as if it didn't give you butterflies. You just wanted to know he was doing okay.
"Maybe he will be coming home tonight" he gave you a little bit of hope.

"It's been too long since we did this," Peter grinned from the back of your pickup. You had basically dropped off all your bags, and announced you were headed back out. Steve shrugged, seeming content to work on his sketches in your living room with Sam reading. They were listening to music and just hanging out with the wolves. You told them they didn't have to stay since Blue was going with Zora up to Wanda and Visions suite, but they said they were fine. You had a feeling they were waiting for Bucky to get back as well. Cloud had come with you in your old pickup truck that hadn't moved in a long time, and Melody stayed behind happily to just snuggle in with Sam. Cloud was eating his container of ice cream while you and the boys ate your burgers in the bed of the pick up just like old times.
"We do get more visitors now though," Pietro pointed out.
"How has school been?" you were quick to ask.
"Lots of pretty girls," Pietro grinned.
"There's only one girl I'm looking at" Peter had a whimsical smile on his face. "Her name is MJ. She's amazing"
"He can barely talk around her" Pietro reported quickly, and you gave a giggle.
"You're both catches, have some confidence" you reassured both boys.
"It's not like we can tell anyone what we actually do outside of school" Peter frowned.
"That's true for you, but not for me. My face is out there already. It's hard to know which girls are actually interested in me, for me, or just my name" Pietro groaned.
"You'll know when you meet the right girl" you reassured him again. "How are the tests coming?"
"We haven't had many yet, but we've been acing them. We are still studying on the rooftops" Peter promised.
"Sounds like I need to make some pies or some cookies" you gave an easy smile.
"Yes, we will start bringing home the tests again" Pietro gave Peter a high five.
"You'll have to put them on the fridge," you warned them.
"Worth it" Peter shrugged. "So where is the wedding going to be?"
"My cabin" you gave a secret smile. "It's going to just be a small wedding"
"Can we take pictures?" Pietro asked quickly.
"Of course you can, I need as many pictures as possible" you took another bite of your burger. Cloud let out a burp.
"Excuse me" Cloud licked his lips as though he was satisfied.
"Someone's happy" Peter chuckled, reaching over to pet Cloud.
"How is the monitoring of the city going?" you asked quickly.
"We've noticed those black vans around again. We've been keeping an eye on them. We think Hydra is in the city" Pietro answered you after he shared a look with Peter.
"We don't have any evidence yet," Peter quickly added.
"Keep me apprised" you gave a soft sigh. You finished your burger and put it to the side.
"There's not much you can do to help us though" Pietro seemed confused.
"Watch me, just because I'm off missions, doesn't mean I can't help keep the city safe" you looked around. "I feel like pulling out my catsuit and joining you two"
"Bucky would kill us, besides, who would watch Blue" Peter quickly pointed out.
You frowned and looked away. "I'm just getting stir crazy. I haven't been stuck in a lab for so long, and I miss the action" you admitted softly.
"It's only for a little while. This is our thing, you don't need to be in danger" Pietro shook his head.
"I just miss it" you rolled your head back on your shoulders.
"We better get back to it" Peter announced after a few minutes of silence.
"Take the doughnuts with you" you offered them the box after taking one out for yourself.
"Thank you Princessa" Pietro gave you a quick kiss on the cheek and hopped out. Peter quickly behind him. You sat in the back of your truck, carding your fingers through Cloud's fur and chewing thoughtfully on your doughnut. You watched the boys get back to the rooftops and decided it was time to head home.
"I think I'm going to take Melody on a run tonight" Cloud informed you as you started getting out of the back of the truck.
"Oh really?" you asked, raising one eyebrow.
"She needs it before the pups come," he confirmed.
"Your pups will be coming around the time I get married" you realized and said it out loud at the same time.
"Hopefully not the same day" he chuckled inwardly, getting into the truck.
"I can imagine that would just be my luck" you laughed and put on your seatbelt. "The renovations on our cabin should be done by then. You'll have lots of room to roam"
"I won't be going far" he assured you. "I'm excited to be a father"
"I know the feeling" you put the truck into gear and started making your way back to the compound. "We get to hear the baby's heartbeat on Monday, I really hope Bucky is home for that"
"He will be, he doesn't like to stray far for long" Cloud reassured you.
"I just feel like a piece of me is missing when he's not around, and it's been like that so much lately" you huffed.
"That's the bond though, I feel the same thing when you are not close by" he reminded you.
"Our lives have changed so much, hasn't it?" you spared him a glance.
"In a good way" he agreed.
You both drove in silence back to the compound and you sighed as you got out of the truck. Your stomach was doing flip flops, and you wondered if it was the burger and fries you just ate for supper. You both made your way in the compound and went upstairs first to get Blue who was having the time of his life with Zora. You headed back downstairs to your suite where the door was closed for a change. You figured Steve and Sam had maybe left after a while and you walked in.
Standing in the middle of the room was Bucky, drinking a mug of coffee. His beard needed a slight trim, but he looked pensive. When your eyes made contact his face broke out into a smile.
"Hey doll" he quickly made his way over to you and pulled you in for a lip searing kiss.
