~ Return: To come or go back to a place or person. ~

Returning to a place you have only been away from for a year should be easy, but when there are people and emotions attached things get complicated.

10 miles until Mystic Falls

A sign reads

Flashback

Me, Bonnie, Caroline, and Lena were standing in front of the school.

"First year" Care mumbles.

"Yay." Bonnie replies sarcastically.

There was a pause we were all taking in the wonders of high school.

Just kidding, we were stalling.

"You know what-" I started to say before I was interrupted.

"I hear a pep talk" Elena says with an eye roll. I loved my sister, but she was such a hater on my awesome pep talks.

"What are we?" I ask them.

"Best friends" they all say in unison. It was written in stone ever since we met in eighth grade.

"Now are we going to quit on our first day?" Im hoping for a whole lot of No's but silence.

Bonnie shrugs. "We really want to..." Care starts.

" But we won't." I finish. "You cant have everything you want, suck it up butter cup." I conclude.

"We have been through middle school, finals, midterms, boy drama, friend drama. We have felt it all. It's not like we're gonna die on our first day, we simply just have to make it til the end of the day." I say proudly

"I'll ask again! Are we gonna quit."

"No!"

"Good!"

"Hey heads up." We hear a sophomore yell.

Care and Lena duck and Bonnie moved out of the way.

I reach my hand out and caught the ball.

Wow I caught it.

I actually caught it.

"Here!" I yell before throwing it back.

" We will be fine now, stand up and don't slouch." I say

" This is not a military base camp." Care whines

"No, but it'll make you look powerful."

We link arms and strut into the school giggling about the weird oatmeal Bonnie ate this morning.

End of flash back

"Almost there." I listen to myself.

I turn up the radio to hear the song Living on a Prayer.
