Chapter 14: Kiss and Betrayal

Yerim steps forward, a slight ache in her arm.

It's been like that ever since she got hit.

She carefully steps over the sticks scattered on the floor.

It's so humid here

A few hours ago, they were all chatting away.

But now, they are all silent. Maybe because they've been walking for what seems like too long.

She pushes a branch out of the way, revealing a little beat-up warehouse.

She feels a tug on her shirt and gets pulled back harshly.

Yerim turns around to see Hanyu.

"What was that for?" Yerim asks.

"Keep your voice down," he responds.

It takes a second for Yerim to understand the situation.

Wait, we're here.

"We arrived earlier than expected," Haseul whispers.

Sooyoung starts, "I'll set up the equipment."

"Ladies, good luck," Hanyu says. "I hope you win."

Heejin responds, "Thank you."

She watches as Hanyu starts walking back in the direction they came from.

"I guess we're just gonna wait now," Jiwoo says.

The equipment has all been set up, but it is still daylight outside. They need to wait for the moon to appear.

Thank god. Now I get to rest.

Heejin looks over at Hyunjin, who stares into the distance without an expression on her face.

She tilts her head.

She hasn't said anything nor made a single tease in the past few hours. Is something up with her?

She walks up to Hyunjin.

"Um, you good? Just checking up on ya."

Hyunjin is silent for a few moments. She responds, "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Yeah, I totally believe that."

"Don't worry about me," Hyunjin says. "Just kinda tired."

"I'm here if you need me," Heejin says.

"Kay."

Heejin pauses, about to say something, but instead walks away.

Not a single tease in that conversation. Something is up.

I'll talk to her later.

Chaewon leans against a tree, away from the others. Not that she is tired of them.

"Chaewon?" Hyeju asks.

Away from everyone except Hyeju.

"Yeah?"

Chaewon turns toward Hyeju, who sits right next to her, leaning against the same tree.

Hyeju says, "We might die."

"Yeah, like I didn't know that before," Chaewon replies sarcastically.

Hyeju shifts her position. "Is there anything you wanna do before you die?"
