Hal and Selma were in the waiting area, chatting as Lyn and brad made their way through the horror that is the return from overseas travel.
Yes, gentle readers: they had been persuaded that a vacation was something they needed. They had to understand that this was not a
vacation to convince one or the other to change how they lived, but a
chance for two people who loved each other to get back in connection with each other.
It had been a two week trip, since they had different places on the top of their list . There was a week in Paris, followed by a week in
London. Hal had been to both places when he was younger, and had some suggestions, as did some of Lyn's friends. Hal and brad had skyped a few times , but Hal put an end to it.
"bradford, this is your time with Lyn. Why did you go to Europe and
spend a fortune in hotels, if you're on the computer all night?" When brad persisted, Hal stopped answering the skype requests.
Lyn sent him a thank you note.
He and Selma had taken the two weeks to get to know each other better.
That had been planned. They hit it off immediately. At their first lunch , they both talked about how their new partner seemed "almost
starved" or "desperate for affection." Selma was no rookie at this. She was just a bit older than Lyn and, according to Lyn, she "paid
attention." She never said it, but she always felt (rightly), that brad's mind was elsewhere in their relationship.
The surprise for Hal, during the past two weeks, was meeting brad and
Lyn's son, Brad junior. It wasn't planned. He was at work one day, and a colleague came to him
"Excuse me Hal, but there's a young man here, says you know his father, wanted to know if he could speak to you?"
Hal was puzzled. The truth was, he never remembered that brad had
