Link soon made it to the base of a Volcano that led to Goron City, home of the Gorons. He climbed the flaming mountain with the help of a fireproof elixir, and made it to an armour shop in Goron City where he bought fireproof armour to make sure he didn't burn up. He visited the village elder, who was a rude old man, who told Link to go find a Goron called Yunobo to help stop Vah Rudania, the local Divine Beast and menace.
Link agreed to help, and went to find Yunobo, who was in a cave surrounded by lizalfos. Link freed him, and brought him back to Goron City. Yunobo was very timid to everyone, and trusted very easily. Link was tasked with guiding Yunobo up Death Mountain without being caught by the numerous patrolling Guardians and Moblins, and so they headed up the mountain together to go defeat Vah Rudania.
To open the gates to get into Vah Rudania, Yunobo and Link shot canons at it, until it let them deliver the final blow. Link slipped inside of Vah Rudania, and beelined for the map terminal, where he distilled a map of Vah Rudania as well as its tilt controls onto his Sheikah slate. In his head, he heard the voice of Daruk, the Goron Champion, his old friend.
Daruk guided him through the Beast, and Link successfully activated all five terminals in the Divine Beast. When he got to the Main Terminal, Link touched his Sheikah slate to the pedestal, and out came a giant monstrosity known as Fireblight Ganon. Fireblight roared menacingly, but Link used Bombs to take him down completely, destroying him thoroughly.
Daruk's ghost had a tender moment with Link before boisterously offering his special skill, Daruk's Protection, to Link, who at the moment had no sufficient protection according to Daruk. Link accepted, and disappeared in a puff of hope.
When he made it back to Goron City, every Goron congratulated him and Yunobo. Link then set off to do what he must do next.
