"NOW IF YOU turn over to page 69 . . ."

The professor's voice sounds off through the room as she goes over the lesson for today. The classroom filled with about twenty-something students is silent, the only sounds be the pens clicking when it's time to write notes, the soft mummers of laptop fans that sat on every desk, and the snores that escape Jaylen Park's mouth as he laid asleep on his keyboard.

The professor doesn't seem to notice or maybe she just doesn't care enough to call him out on his bullshit. It wouldn't be the first time he's been caught not paying attention in class. I look over at him in the seat beside me, hands tucked under his large head as his pink lips part just enough to let the drool seep from his lips and onto his keyboard. I grimaced at the scene before me.

Is this what the girls at CU go crazy over?

I'm tempted to grab my pencil and draw over his face as he did me last week. Might draw thick brows into a unibrow, and boobs around the stud in his nose, or maybe just write asshole across his forehead in big bold letters. A sly smirk scratches across my face at the many ideas that ran through my head as I looked down at the sleeping boy beside me. I removed my pen from my notebook and held it over his face debating on which part I wanted to draw on first.

But he opens one eye, the brown iris locking directly on me causing me to jump a little in my seat. "I'll kill you," he mumbled, sleep still in his eyes and voice.

How the fuck . . .

"Okay class and that wraps up today's lesson," Professor Sanderson voices from the front of the class catching both of our attention. "on the screen are the partners for the upcoming project that involves creating your very own website that is due in a week . . ."

Jaylen immediately sat up then at the mention of a project, hair ruffled on top of his head as he titled a head at the professor like a puppy and I couldn't help but my eyes at him.

"You and your partner have a week to create a website on mutual interest. The website must include pictures or videos, facts about your interests with a cited source, and whatever else you feel will bring your website to life. Remember, this is about you and your partner and I need to see that on the website when you two present it next week."

"When the hell did she say anything about a project?" Jaylen turned to me and asked.

"She announced it last class but you didn't come so . . ." I answered, twirling my pen in my hand as I turned my attention back to Professor Sanderson in front of the class.

"Since it's your first real grade of the class I won't be too harsh but it would be in your best interest to at least try and get a good grade." And with that everyone started to get out of their seats and to the front of the class where the assigned partners were posted on the board.

I pack my things and get up from my seat leaving a dumbfounded Jaylen at his seat, brain still trying to register what's happened in the last thirty minutes. Once I get to the front of the class I bypass the small crowd of students and look for my name on the list. I find my name the near bottom of the list and I nearly choke on my tongue when I saw the name beside mine.
