Forecast predicts pink skies and frostbite.
"SO—HOW WELL DID I WOO YOU?"
"How well did you woo me?" Y/N inhaled sharply, scrunching up their face and pursing their mouth outwards. "I don't know. Maybe you should take me on another and then perhaps I'll get back to you on that."
It was a few days after New Years.
The two both traveled to where their families resided and everyone had a decent jolly time during New Years. Y/N journeyed out of the province. Honcho stayed pretty close to home.
Even with the distance though, the two managed to keep in touch with messages back and forth whenever one is available.
The two were taking a morning walk and relishing the last day of winter break.
School is gonna kick their butts.
"You want me to take you on another date?" Honcho took the lollipop out of his mouth and twirled the white stick part. It did surprisingly well considering the imbalance of weight between candy and stick. He smacked his lips. "Well, why didn't you ask sooner?"
"Me ask you sooner?" Y/N furrowed their eyebrows. "Wasn't the first one just last week? That's too soon."
"Hey hey," Rantaro waves it off in a very leisure manner. "There is no such thing as too soon when it's me and you. I have to teach you the basics of romance while also romancing you. This is a hefty part-time job, y'know?"
"So are you gonna take me on another date then?"
"I—" Rantaro stuck the lollipop back in his mouth right as they asked the question, which made him almost gag on his candy. He whipped the lollipop right back out like that. "You were serious about that?"
Y/N paused, slowly nodding at him in a mocking fashion. "...yeah."
"Woah, I seriously got you to like like me?"
"I can reconsider doing that—"
"Oh no no no no—I've got this far, I'm not stopping now!" Rantaro cleared his throat of trapped lollipop residue before continuing. "So, uh—wanna go on another date?"
"Of course I do, you dork." Y/N rolled their eyes. "What day and time are you available?"
"I'm free right now!" he grins.
The toothy response left them with butterflies waltzing on the floor of their stomach. Y/N scrunched up their face and averted their eyes to the side. "You want to go on a date right now? Do we have anything planned?"
"Well I'm sure we can find something to do—besides," Rantaro slyly slipped his fingers into Y/N's, interlocking them. He shivered for a second from the shock of how cold their hand was, but shook it off a second later. "I'm with you, aren't I? I'd say that is the main thing about a date: quality time with the person you're with!"
Y/N's cheeks blossomed into the hue of a warm peach—and it was not from the cold.
'You never cease to amaze me, Rantaro. Not a moment is ever labeled as a dull one when I'm with you.'
...
Funny, is it not?
Only a few weeks earlier did they want nothing to do with the elder Kiyama. Now they find that each passing hour zips by whenever they enter his bubble of glee.
Also they noticed that they themself have become more cheesy.
Hm; Y/N didn't know what to make of that.
"Yeah," they shrugged. "I suppose that comprises most dates in a few words."
"I'm okay with anywhere you want to go." Rantaro perked up. "Well, except outside—I think I'm gonna catch frostbite if we stay out here for any longer."
"We can go to my place," Y/N proposed. "It's only two blocks away."
"Me?" Rantaro gasped. "Going to your place?" he placed his vacant hand on his heart and dramatically shook his head. "Oh I could never. Man, Y/N, this early in the relationship too? I would have never suspected you were—"
"Or we can just stay out here in the cold—"
"What are we waiting for?" Rantaro's attitude fid a complete 180. "Your place it is!"
