CHAPTER TEN — everybody wants to rule the world
( episode ten ; fury )

I return to the beta's and slump into my seat, releasing a huff. "What happened? Where's Derek?"

"I don't know." I respond, leaning my elbows against my knees, while toying with the charm of my necklace. My mind is running a million miles a minute, as I rack my brain for who owns the mysterious car that sped out of the lot. It wasn't Derek because that douchey Camaro is hard to forget. I pull my phone out of my pocket and call Stiles; it rings twice, before he seemingly ignores the call. "Son of a bitch."

"What are you thinking, T?" Jasper asks from his place in the far corner of the car.

"I'm not sure, but there's something wrong. I can feel it." I answer, returning to my feet. I begin to unchain the Hale boy and once he's free, the two of us split off, releasing the other beta's from their restraints. "Okay, Ryder, Isaac, go track down Derek. Jasper and I will head to my house to find Drea and the boys. And Boyd, you stay here with Erica to make sure the healing process continues properly." We all exit the building and I open the driver side door, when my brother steps in front of me.

"Not a chance, Lore." Jasper states, crossing his arms over his chest.

"It's my car!" I argue, prepared to fight him on this, but concede rather quickly and drop my keys into his hand. We definitely don't have time to debate this. The drive to our house is quick, as Jas is breaking just about every traffic law in the book. The two of us enter, he checks the second floor and I search the first; finding the place empty.

"Maybe they're at Scott's." The brunette suggests, both of us standing in the foyer with the front door wide open, the wind tears through the entryway, causing goosebumps breaking out across my skin.

"They planned on telling Dad that Matt is the killer. So, going to his house wouldn't make sense..." I explain, wrapping my arms around my figure and a moment of silence passes over us, as we both ponder the possibilities.

"The station!" We both have this epiphany at the same time and rush back towards the car, slamming the door shut behind us. During the drive, it feels as though my brother may send the gas pedal through the floor of the car from the accelerated speed. We arrive at the police station and cautiously exit the vehicle, as a familiar car pulls into the lot and I take in our surroundings...it's quiet. Too quiet.

"Melissa?" Jasper's voice redirects my attention to

"What's going on?" Melissa asks, approaching the two of us and we share a few glances, not really having an answer. The woman takes our silence as a response and leaves us in the lot, while she enters the building.

"What now?"

"Call Ryder." I instruct, jumping up and down rapidly in an attempt to warm myself up. A gunshot sounds from inside the building and we rush inside, finding Scott bleeding through his shirt. Matt says something, but his words don't register, as I worry for the safety of my dad and brother. Subconsciously, I begin to inch closer to the McCall woman and she steps towards her son, only for the boy to redirect the barrel of the weapon at her. I place myself in front of her, as Scott urges the two of us to do what Matt says.
