~ 8 YEARS AGO ~
"Hey, you're gonna freeze if you stay out with your thin clothes"
Eun-Jeong said as he was holding a blanket out for Aera since it was already midnight.
"I don't need your help! I can survive on my own"
Aera said as she hugged herself tightly.
"Well you will need my help if you don't want to die such a miserable death"
"Well, I'd rather die like this, then at least I'll be with my family"
"Look, you're too young to think like that, just come with me"
"If you really want to help me, hand over the blanket, and go away"
"Okay then, but if it's too cold here, just come to my home, okay?"
It continued like that for a few days, Aera staying near that tree until midnight, where Eun-Jeong would even join her until she went home with him, and that's how she met Su-Rin, and they got along well, and Aera stayed with them for years.
~ PRESENT ~
After Su-Rin and Aera were done shopping, they walked back home laughing and talking.
"Let's go wash our hands"
Aera said as soon as they entered the house
"Okay"
After they were done washing their hands, Aera looked for a towel to dry their hands but didn't find any
"Huh, that's odd, I must've left them outside, don't worry I'll go get them"
Su-Rin said as she went outside to go get the towels.
As Aera was waiting, she looked around the kitchen while humming and her eyes stopped at the entrance of the kitchen, and she went there
"How did I not notice this?"
Aera said as she picked up a black handkerchief which had a royal emblem on it.
When she saw the emblem, her mind went back eight years ago to the incident that happened to her parents on her birthday
Aera's eyes darkened when she the message written on it.
This message is to the daughter of Han Seong-Jun, when you have read this, directly come to the palace within the next 30 minutes, if not, a group of assassins will come to your house and cause trouble, so do cooperate and come immediately
When Aera read that, she scoffed and threw the handkerchief aside and said,
"Bold of them to assume I'd just go to that damned palace"
"Uhm, Aera, some people are here, to see you"
Su-Rin said as she came in with a worried expression,
Aera opened her mouth to say something but closed it and went outside, where she saw a literal army of assassins and soldiers.
"Your thirty minutes are over, please cooperate, and come with us, if you don't want us to cause trouble here"
The person from earlier said in his deep and intimidating tone.
"Aera, who are they and what is he talking about?"
Su-Rin asked with a confused expression.
Aera didn't answer her, but instead stepped forward and said daringly,
"How do I know you won't harm us?"
The man in front removed his mask and the soldiers and assassins behind him all gasped
Aera and Su-Rin's jaws dropped when they saw his handsome face,
"Nobody has seen my face apart from my close companions, at least now you'll trust me?"
He asked as he raised an eyebrow,
"W-well, I-I still ain't coming"
Aera said as she folded her arms and looked away a bit embarrassed due to the fact she stuttered
The handsome guy walked forward and stood in front of Aera, he then leaned down a bit to match her height and whispered,
"I know that you're the one who stole the Mai-Jin blue jade, but I haven't told anyone yet, so just imagine if I did tell, so just cooperate, because you have no idea what the royal family is capable of"
Aera looked at him in the eye and scoffed as she said,
"Are you threatening me now?"
"No, I'm just telling you a fact, now please come with us, if you don't want us to harm your friend"
The man said as he straightened his posture and looked at Aera expectantly.
Aera glared at him before saying,
"Let's go"
The man smirked and lead Aera all the way to the royal palace.
When they finally reached there, Aera rolled her eyes as she looked at the luxurious palace,
The soldiers standing at the gate bowed respectfully to the handsome man and allowed him to enter,
When they entered the palace, Aera looked around and spotted a familiar face
"Crown Prince, I have brought the daughter of Han Seong-Jun, as promised"
"Ah, the King and Queen just left to attend a very important meeting, so I'm the only one here...
He trailed off as he saw Aera and raised his eyebrow
"Is she the daughter of Han Seong-Jun?"
"You're the Crown Prince?"
Aera asked the same time he asked.
"Yes"
Both Jiho and the handsome man said.
Jiho looked at him and cleared his throat,
"Jinhyeok, could you leave us for some time?"
Jinhyeok looked at him with a confused expression before bowing and left.
When Aera saw they were alone, she touched her hair and walked forward to Jiho.
"Can't believe you're the Crown Prince, but oh well, it was nice knowing you"
Aera said as she removed her hairpin and tried to attack him but failed when he quickly moved and folded her arms behind her back and pinned her on the wall.
Her eyes widened in shock and she dropped the hairpin,
"I can't believe you're the daughter of Han Seong-Jun"
