Chapter 11: Liar

Y/n's POV:

"Allison is... who?"

"Alice. Alice Angel," Sammy repeated.

This time I was the one to say something. "What?"

"Why didn't anyone tell me?" asked Susie.

"Sorry, Campbell. I guess Joey forgot to tell you."

Susie then turned to me. "You knew about this? You helped her with taking my role?"

I shook my head frantically. "No! Trust me, Susie, I—"

Without giving me a chance to explain, she slammed the door and stormed off. I immediately went after her. By the time I made my way out of the booth, she had already left the recording studio.

"Susie!" I called out, running over to her. "Susie, wait!"

Once I caught up to her, I grabbed her arm. She instantly ripped her arm out of my grip before whirling around to face me.

"Are you kidding me?" she hissed. "You went and helped Allison take my role? You knew she was taking over and you helped her?!"

"No, I didn't know!"

"Yeah, sure," she scoffed. "Then explain why you and Sammy were in there helping her prepare for my song!"

"Sammy told me she was a backup!" I blurted. "He never told me that she was replacing you!"

"Do you really expect me to believe that?" she asked. "If you thought she was a backup, why didn't you check with me first? If she were a backup, I probably would've found that out before you! Why didn't you ask me if it were true?"

"I—"

I paused. How was I supposed to answer that?

"Well?" she prodded. "I'm waiting for an answer, y/n."

"Alright, fine, I don't know!" I admitted. "Sammy thought that we shouldn't mention it to you yet so that you wouldn't get the wrong idea about it like you do right now!"

"The wrong idea?!" she repeated, now practically yelling. "If Sammy is telling you not to tell me about this, then I think I very well do have the right idea about it!"

"Come on, Susie, you gotta believe me!"

"I don't think I have any reason to believe you!"

"Susie, I'm your friend! Why would you ever think I'd betray you?"

"I didn't think you'd betray me. But now you're literally helping someone to replace me! That sounds a lot like betrayal to me!" she argued. "For all I know, I might lose my job because of her! Voice acting for Alice Angel is the only purpose I have here at the studio! I have nothing else to do to work here! Does that even matter to you?"

"Susie, you can't jump to conclusions so soon," I insisted.

"I don't know, y/n. It's a little hard not to."

"Sammy gave me no choice! He told me that Joey insisted on Allison being the new actor for Alice and that there was nothing we could do to change Joey's mind. Joey's the boss, and it's up to him over who does what around here!"

"The least you could've done was tell me that!"

"You would've gotten upset with me!"

"Well, I would've been a lot less upset than I am right now!"

"I didn't think you'd find out this way!"

"Wow. You lied to me because you thought I wouldn't find out?" she scoffed. "That's low."
