When I got to school the next day I saw everyone on the football team outside the principal's office.

''Hey, what's goin' on in there? Hutcher gettin' an award for 100 detentions or something?'' I asked Tommy, the waterboy to the football team. '' I wish, Jason's parent got into some legal trouble or something and are calling it splits and his mom is taking custody of Jason and is here to do some paperwork to transfer him to some school in Ohio.'' Tommy responded in the same meek voice he always talked in.

''No wonder the entire team is here, they're afraid of losing their star fullback'' I said in a low depressed voice.'' Nice choice Marlene, finally leaving that turd but taking Jason to another school'' I thought in my head.

When Jason stepped out of the office, his mom and the principal shook hands,'' I'll make sure the paper are faxed over to River High in Ohio.'' That was it, the team was losing their star player and I was losing the burden of dealing with the fact that my so-called friend was leaving the state. The team surround Jason, asking who would be covering his position until the end of their season or if they could have his locker or some other stuff. Jason just looked past the crowd and at me, with a look that said ' well, you happy' and turned away.

I have nothing to be sorry for, his mom is the one that made him transfer, and as for the fact that i went out on one date with his ex was just a stupid reason to be mad. The next thing I know, I pull out a chair from the hallway and stand up their looking all proud and cocky.\

''Ladies and gentleman, all look at the last moments of our beloved Wolves football team star player, Jason Roberts. Witness as we observe the fine Cro-Magon and his goons in their natural surrounding'' I said in a fake accent. '' How's it feel buddy, your last moments here in Lincoln High, with your team, with your best friend.'' I said as I gave him a pat on the back.

I walked away towards the little crowd my speec gathered, talking more about Jason leaving.

In a couple of seconds, I found myself on the floor with a nasty pain in my jaw.'' What's the matter Johnson, all bark and no bite, huh buddy.'' As he kicked me in the gut, all the pain rushing to my brain.'' Huh, nice hook J, just like the one I taught you after my lessons over at the Y,'' During our summer in seventh grade, I'd taken some karate lessons and taught Jason a thing or two after my lessons since his folks didn't have any dough to sign him up for lessons, but I never thought he would use them at this time. Jason came in for another hit, but missed and managed to hit my chin.

''Kinda reminds me of our fights we would have in your yard after my lessons,'' Jason came in for more shots, all going toward my chest or face,'' if I remeber correctly I always won.'' I came in for some shots after Jason missed the last two, knowing that when I taught him he would pick up the offensive moves and not any defensive. I managed hit two or three times in the ribs, but I'm pretty sure they did more damaged to me than him. All those muscles on him acted like armor made of stone. While I was going in for a couple more shots, two of the football players grabbed me and put me in a full nelson, allowing Jason to throw some nasty punches to my ribs.

I felt weak, my sight going all blurry. Jason stayed there going full strength on me, blood was dropping to the groung, all from me. Jason started kicking me upside the head like it was some football. Bad thing is that Jason always wore heavy construction boots, the ones with the steel toes.

''That's enough, that's enough'' I heard as two of the Bio teachers broke through the large crowd that had come to see me get my ass whupped. The two football players let go of me and the teachers grabbed both me and Jason, one carrying me to the nurse's office, but Jason kept going at it. Eventually, he broke loose and got close enough to give me one last kick, one that I taught him. That had enough strength to cause me to black out and as I fell to the floor, I saw tears rolling from Jason's cold eyes.
