Next day Manik n Arjun played games all the day till it was time for them to attend the festival. They got dressed n left to the village.
Manik smiled mesmerized at lively environment of the people, "Bhaiya ... Mei bhi jaa raha hu!" n joined the villagers in their dance. Arjun stood keeping an eye on him while greeting the head.
The head gave a smile, "Iss toyhar ka bahut manyata hai Arjun. Kehte hai ki bahut saal pehle humare purvajon ki raksha karne keliye Devi maa yaha iss Jungle mei ayi. Tab se har saal hum sab iss din bahut jashn se manate. Lekin sarkar iss pe rokh lagane wale tey par tumare wajah se hum apne bhagwan ki jashn ko mana rahe. Dhanyawad!"
Arjun though he doesn't believe, "Kaka... Mei insab mei vishwas nahi karta lekin kisi ke astha pe bhi sawal nahi karta. Aur rahi baat yeh jashn ki toh aap log koi haani nahi pauncha rahe. Dhanyawad toh mujhe kehna hai kyunki apne mere bache ki jaan bachaya... Aur uskeliye mei kuch bhi karu woh chota hi hai!" He mumbled.
The head villager remembered the day when he met a little boy inside the thick forest.
Few years before. Arjun n family came to stay at Lake house for first time. Manik being excited n curious kid saw a rabbit lurking around tried to catch it, "Bunny... Mannu ke paas avo!"
The family saw him playing, "yeh dekho athe hi dost banna shuru kiya." A voice no doubt belonged to abhi came.
Others chuckled at him. Roshini moved to Manik kneeled before him, "Baby kya karrahe ho aap? Ander nahi ana apko?"
The child looked at her innocently, "Angel... Mannu ko bunny se khelne hai." He replied.
"Theek hai khelo aap lekin kahi mat jana!" She said smiling at him. Manik grinned n ran off to play. Though they were enjoying they kept eye on him.
Suddenly they couldn't hear any noises got startled looking around. Panic rose inside them as manik isn't visible, "Mannu!" They tried calling him.
Manik who was playing followed the rabbit inside the forest to catch it, "Ale... Bunny... Mannu keliye... rukho..!" N caught it finally, "Yeah... Mannu ne pakadliya!" He yelled excitedly turning to show it to his family but frowned as unfamiliar surrounding, "Baba...!"
Tears welled up in his eyes as he felt scared hugged the rabbit close, "Bunny... Hum kaha hai!" He sniffed not knowing where he should go, his breathing turned heavy.
Suddenly he heard a noise turned around got sacred looking at the huge scary old man moved back, "Mannu ko kuch mat kalo....scary uncle!" He stammered.
The old man frowned as what the kid was doing in such a place understood he is afraid kneeled before, "Beta... Hum apko kuch nahi karenge. Aap yaha kaise aye?"
Manik glanced at him warily, "baba ne mana kiya mannu ko kisi se baat na karne ko!"
The old man raised his eyebrow, "Aur tumara papa bilkul theek kaha."
Manik shook his head, "Papa nahi baba... Woh mannu ke baba hai!" He huffed glaring at him cutely.
The old man chuckled at him, "Acha apke baba kaha hai? Aap yaha kaise aye?"
