Yo I don't know shit about anything medical so this is just pure guessing on how half the stuff in this works. don't take my word for anything in here. Im also basing this off American hospitals because I am EXTREMELY AMERICAN I have never left the country. I only recently got my passport. Also I'm gonna ignore the paying part of healthcare cause that's lame. :)
╚═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╝"Ophelia hope's family?" A nurse walked out into the waiting room. Nicole nudged Nick who raised his head after he dozed off on her shoulder and rubbed his eyes. Tanner stood up instantly and walked over.
"Is she okay?" Tanner asked not having a wink of sleep for at least twenty three hours.
"She's stable. Unfortunately, we had to put her into a medically induced coma. She will wake up in ten days." He said as he read off the clip board.
"Can we see her?" Nicole spoke up as she stood next to Tanner.
"Yes. She's in room three twelve." He said and the three ran to the room. Nicole walked in and more tears fell from her eyes. She never imagined she would have to see her sister this way. Nick walked in and tears formed in his eyes. Ophelia was one of his favorite people to be around, it was so difficult to see her this way.
As for Tanner, it took everything in his body to walk into that room. His feet felt like they weighed a thousand pounds each. His mind told him that he would hate what he would see, but his heart told him that if he never saw her then he would hate himself even more.
Once her saw her laying in the bed the tears came like a waterfall. The different machines hooked into her arms, the breathing tube shoved down her throat, the cast on her arm, the brace on her leg and her. Her body laid there looking peaceful, but nothing about the situation was peaceful. Her hair wasn't a mess anymore, the bags under her eyes had disappeared, and her acne was clearing up. She wasn't shaking from any caffeine fueling her since she was getting the rest she needed. There was a chair sat next to the bed and Tanner sat in it. He took her hand and kissed it before lowering his head and holding the back of her hand on his forehead.
"I'm so sorry." Was all he could mutter out. It was all he could gain the strength to say. If he tried to speak again he wouldn't be able to say a word without stuttering or sobbing. Nicole pulled up another chair in the room next to the bed. She was younger but still protective of her sister. She had planned to yell at Tanner when they made it back to Austin and tell him if he fucked up again she would kill him, but she knew that he was just as heart broken in this situation as her.

It had been three days since Ophelia was admitted into the hospital. Three days since Tanner had seen anything other than the bland walls of her room. "T, you should go home." Nick said as he walked back into the room with a water for him.
"I can't leave her. I left once and look what happened. I have to be here." He told him. Tanner was a wreck. He hadn't showered in four days so his hair didn't have the fluff that it normally did. He hardly slept, scared if he did something would happen to Ophelia. He hadn't been home in a while. His clothes were the same as they were when they arrived. It was still Tanner, just different.
"Tanner, just go take shower and change clothes at least. I'll stay here with her. Nothing will happen."
"Promise?"
"Yeah, I promise." Nick held out his pinky and Tanner linked it before letting go. He stood up and placed a kiss on Ophelia's forehead before turning to leave. He reluctantly left the room and headed home.
Once he got to the house he looked around. Luckily the roommates were out doing god knows what. He first saw the kitchen where they made strawberry crepes and said I love you for the first time. Then he went upstairs and saw his Bed where they would watch terrible rom-coms and point out everything wrong with them.
He showered and once he got dressed he looked at her drawer. She was over so much he decided to give her a spot to put her clothes in so she wouldn't have to pack a bag. He walked out of the house and made his way back to the hospital when he found himself parked in front of her own apartment. He wanted to go in, but why? She wasn't in there. He walked in and honey ran to the door. He crouched down petting the small white cat and picking her up.
"Hi Honey. You're probably very confused." He talked to the small animal knowing she couldn't understand him but he couldn't care less. "Ophelia's just on a vacation." He lied thinking if he told the truth the cat would be hurt. "She'll be back soon. It's only a while before she'll be back." He told the cat to comfort her. But were the words meant to comfort the cat or reassure him?

The hospital chairs weren't the most comfortable, but when you refuse to leave your girlfriends side you deal with what you got. Tanner woke up from the uncomfortable spot and stretched his limbs hearing a few cracks from his back. He was told that if he talked to Ophelia there's a chance she would hear him. He hadn't tried it yet. "Ophelia I don't know if you can hear me but I hope you can. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you so hard when you told me you couldn't go. I should've texted you back. I shouldn't have made you feel like I left. I would never leave, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did. I should've said I love you before I walked out of that door. I love you so much. More than my heart can hold. More than you or I could imagine."
