After their little talk following the battle of Deika City, Kosuke helped Shigaraki back to his room to get some much needed rest. Then the boy headed to his own room, except he was intercepted by Dabi on the way, who seemed to have been waiting for him. "Hey," Dabi said, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall.
"Well hello there," Kosuke raised his eyebrows.
"Can we talk?" The patchwork villain asked, not taking his eyes off of the boy, who blinked for a second before nodding.
"Sure. Here?"
"Follow me," Dabi jerked his head and pushed off the wall. Shoving his hands in his pockets, he walked off down the hall without looking back to see if Kosuke was following him. The boy did anyway, taking this time to observe the back of the person strolling in front of him.
Dabi's scars were on the back of his neck too, though the connection was under his hair so Kosuke couldn't see any staples. Most of his neck was covered by the collar of his jacket, making it even harder to discern anything. A thought crossed his mind as to what Dabi's actual hair color was, since it obviously wasn't black from how much dye the dude had, plus his parents had hair that was either red or white. However, Kosuke shook his head since it wasn't his place to ask.
If Dabi's natural hair was white though, Kosuke was totally going to mention how he, Shigaraki and Dabi could be brothers.
A bit more walking, and Dabi was opening a door and gesturing for the boy to go in first, so with a hum, Kosuke made his way into the room. It was a lounge, so Kosuke sweatdropped at the thought of having another talk that would end in a cry session, making him quickly cross his fingers to hope it did not, in fact, go in that direction, since he knew his eyes would be ridiculously swollen the next day instead of the just mildly puffy he was already expecting.
The door shutting was what brought the boy out of his thoughts, turning to see Dabi coming towards him. Their eyes met and neither looked away even when the patchwork villain stepped so that he was close enough that Kosuke could feel the warmth resonating from his body.
There wasn't much of a height difference, which had Kosuke actually thought about it, would have been a bit weird since the last time he had checked, he was 170cm, and Dabi had 6 whole centimeters on him. However, during his catatonic nomu phase, Kosuke had unknowingly shot up three centimeters to 173cm, making him only 3cm shorter than the resident fire user.
After another few minutes of staring at each other, Kosuke pursed his lips. "So, we gonna talk, or are we gonna keep this staring contest up?" Kosuke expected Dabi to crack a joke about how he'd never get tired of looking at him or something stupid with one of the pet names he had for him, but that wasn't what happened. Instead, a somber expression crossed the villain's face, and his jerked his chin towards one of the couches.
"Let's go sit down."
"Cool," Kosuke blinked, but turned and moved so that he could sit down on the couch that Dabi had indicated. Adding to the growing list of surprising actions, instead of sitting down next to him or pulling up a chair or something normal, Dabi took a knee in front of him and extended his hand.
Obviously Kosuke's eyebrows were arched to high heavens, but he still held his own hand out in return. "What's this about, Dabi?"
"Several things," He bowed his head, pressing his forehead against the back of Kosuke's hand. "Did you really mean it in your letter?"
"Oh," Kosuke recalled one of the archives that he and Akaguro had dug up to watch while his body had been sleeping, which had turned out to be the day that Dabi had dyed Kosuke's hair. He now understood their positions. Dabi had probably readied himself to get hurt or something since he seemed to think that Kosuke would be mad at him and hate him, so a smile spread across the boy's face.
