Carlisle pov

After work, I went straight home with alot on my mind. It isn't often that work stresses me out, but this was a decision that would impact a young girls entire future. I walked through the house and immediately heard the arguing of connor and emmet over some video game. You'd think that fostering people who are 70+ would make them more mature and less childlike. That unfortunately doesn't appear to be the case. It does sometimes feel like babysitting but wouldn't change it for the world

"Connor emmet, its just a game, why don't you play again so you can decide who the clear winner is?" I hear esme suggest before she comes and greets me

"Hi honey, how was your day?" Esme asks kissing me softly

"Eventful. I met the most adorable baby, a service dog was brought into my office today, also adorable, and there was a teenage girl, not so adorable as intriguing" I tell her

"How so?"

"Well, she came in after being ran over whilst running from the cops. From what I could gather, she'd ran away from all her Foster homes and has been given one last chance at a Foster home before they stick her in a group home and forget about her. Her name is Daisy, she swears like a sailor and doesn't seem to like anyone, answers most questions with a shrug other than when she's annoyed and will yell to make her point clear. Quite a spark" I explain

"I assume you're so caught up on this because they want you to Foster this girl?"

"Correct. What do you think? We've never fostered a human before, we'd have to live our lives completely different and she needs alot of help and support"

"I think this is a matter for the whole family. Family meeting and then we'll decide. Personally, I think if a girl needs a home then maybe we aren't the best place for her, she needs structure and to fit in, she won't get that other than danger with our family. Sorry honey" once esme finishes, everyone comes downstairs to talk about their views on Daisy

"So why are we here?" Emmet asks and Connor seems equally confused

"Sometimes I'm convinced you still have your human hearing" jasper chuckles

"We were concentrating on the game. I blew emmets head off by the way, just thought I'd let you all know" Connor says smirking whilst he opens a packet of cigarettes

"Barbaric" rosalie mutters

"Nope, if you're going to smoke then you can go outside" esme warns making Connor roll his eyes but laugh

"Didn't everyone smoke in your day?"

"Yes, they did. And it made the houses stink and the wallpaper yellow. So go outside if you're planning on smoking" Connor just puts his cigarette away with a sigh knowing he'd have to be here for the family meeing

"The reason you're here is because there is a young teenage girl in hospital and I've been asked to Foster her. Before you decide, you should know, this is her last chance before they put her in a group home. But it's her last chance due to the fact that she runs away from her previous Foster homes. Her name is Daisy, and it'll be alot of work to support her and keep our secret, but I think she deserves to be apart of a family. Edward, what do you think?"

"I think it's risky. But if this is her last chance like you say then we should atleast try and help her. And if she feels the need to run away, then atleast we'll be able to track her scent to know that she's safe" Edward gives us his opinion and then rosalie

"It's too risky Edward. Not just risky, bit dangerous, for her and us. If she finds out our secret, then we'll all suffer. And if the volturi find out, they'll kill her and us. It isn't fair to bring such a vulnerable girl into this life" it then moves on to Alice

"I think we should definitely Foster her, it's so sad, her situation, but if anyone can make her feel better then it's us. I mean, how great would it be to have another sister? Even if she is human, she still deserves to be in our family" then emmet

"I don't see why we shouldn't Foster her. Just gives me one more person to beat on my PlayStation. Plus, might be cool to have a human around, give us tips on how to not stand up. And a new dress up doll for alice" he jokes making her smile. Jasper and Connor have stayed silent

"Jasper, what do you think?" Esme asks

"I won't be able to control myself. What if she cuts her knee? Or gets a paper cut? And the fact she's a Foster kid, if i do slip, it won't be easy to hide and they'll be a massive investigation" jasper tells us looking down

"Well I think we should Foster her. Jazz, you will control your thirst. I know you don't believe it but we won't let you slip up. I know better than anyone what it's like in a group home, kids have been known to jump from windows or hang themselves as an escape. I know times are different, but the loneliness and being unwanted, that can't go away. If we have the opportunity to keep someone out of that hell, then we definitely should" Connor says

Connor knows so much because he was in an orphanage as a child. His mother died giving birth and his father died when connor was 4 during the war. In 1916, he was sent to a london orphanage on his 5th birthday. He was abused, raped, and eventually, kicked out. His sister who was 2 years older jumped out of a window aged 8. And when Connor turned 14, they kicked him out to work in the mines where he fell down a shaft age 18. That's when a vampire found and turned him. He moved to America and found me and then Alice

Alice knows it is hard for him to talk about, so she wraps her arm around his waist and kisses his cheek

"Let's take a vote" i suggest

"So it's decided, I'll talk to her social worker and start the process of adoption. She's got a few injuries that need healing before she can live here"

"What kind of injuries?" Edward asks

"She got hit in the head and is unsteady on her feet due to concussion. Broken wrist and dislocated knee. She can come here with the broken wrist but the concussion and dislocated knee will have to be sorted before. Until then, she's thought of as vulnerable by the state and can't be fostered. It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks in hospital to get right" I explain to them. Rosalie walks off shaking her head and emmet follows after her. Jasper looks concerned but I can tell he is trying not to show it

"We won't let you slip up jasper" Edward says

"Ye, well when you guys get the ability to hold back the major, let me know" and then he too walks off

"Itll be OK Carlisle. She'll be apart of the family in now time" Alice says cheerily before she kisses my cheek and leaves with Connor and Edward

"We can do this right?" I ask esme as she wraps her arms around me

"I'm not all for this, but we took a vote. And yes, I think it's dangerous, but we can do this and we will. That poor girl needs us" I kiss esme and then go to my study to call her social worker, all whilst wondering if I made the right decision
