Daisy pov

Me and jasper walked back to the cullens house, his arm around my shoulder. I felt nervous, like at any moment, he'd turn on me. This wasn't normal. I mean, my entire life has been different, but I'm pretty sure I'd know if vampire Foster parents were the norm. We got back and everyone was sat in the living room probably waiting for our return. I was anxious and more cautious around them. What if I've been bought back here as their lunch?

"We can't drink your blood, look to suspicious" Edward said to me. Can he read fucking minds or something?

"It's my gift, i can read minds, Alice can see the future, jasper can feel and manipulate others emotions" Edward lists their so called gifts

"Daisy, we know this is alot to take in. You can ask any questions and we'll do our best to answer them. But I can promise you, we won't hurt you" esme says tucking my hair behind my ear. I was still too shocked to shrug her away. I sat down on the sofa and began asking my questions

"How come you aren't Ash? Surely you should be hiding in a cave away from natural light"

"Ha, I want you to do me a favour. Everything you've read or seen about vampires in books and films, forget it. We don't sleep in coffins or turn into Ash or transform into bats" Carlisle tells me

"So, what do you do then? Other than being really fucking fast, what makes you a vampire because you look fucking human to me" I ask

"We survive from blood. Human food makes us sick. Imagine eating meat which is undercooked, gives you food poisoning. Well its like that. But our family just drink animal blood. That's why we live here, secluded with the animals close by" Connor answers

"Vampires don't sleep. We can breathe to look more human but it isn't necessary. And we can't cry" Alice tells me

"Can you still fuck?" Their eyes go wide and emmet tries not to laugh

"How is that one of your first questions?" Jasper laughs

"Well Its just because, surely no blood can get to your cock, and you don't have the humanly circulatory system for your heart to work. If your heart doesn't work, then rest of your organs would shut down and you wouldn't be able to cum" I thought it was a pretty normal and civilised question. I could tell by their faces that they did not agree

"Thankfully we can still have sex. We don't know how, sometimes science isnt logical. I say, to make life easier, say its God's will" emmet chuckles

"But I'm not religious"

"Neither am I. But if you say something is God's will, no one can tell you otherwise because they have to respect your 'beliefs'. Little tip I learnt in school" he explains making me nod in understanding

"Are there other vampires?" I ask now getting interested with the prospect of a vampire Foster family

"Plenty. The denali coven in Alaska, they are our cousins. And there are a few other covens. Most are nomads" esme tells me

"What are nomads?"

"Vampires who spend their entire time hunting and going from place to place, usually alone or rogue. They are often newborns, that means new vampires. Some people get turned and then are left alone to figure out our world, or some leave covens and wonder alone. But don't worry, it's rare that nomads walk through fawks, we'd smell if they were near" jasper says

"Newborns? Like babies? So, are they just weaker vampires, like babies are weaker humans?"

"The opposite. They are at their strongest point as newborns, extra senses. Fast and dangerous. Their thirst is unexplainable and they find it difficult not to attack every human they smell. But they learn, we all did, and now we can control our thirst" Alice says

"Are you guys friends with mermaids, and witches and zombies?" I ask excitedly

"Zombies aren't real. Witches are, but they live in the northern lights, only stepping onto our world every hundred years to replenish what has been lost and then they leave. They are like mother nature, without them, we would have no water or trees or mountains, just a dry wasteland. And mermaids, well they aren't real as far as I'm aware, but I have heard some vampires say they've seen them. If They were real, they'd stay far away from land because of fishermen and divers" Carlisle explains

"Do you have a vampire King? Or a vampire queen? Or is there a president?"

"I suppose you could say we have a vampire king of sorts. The volturi are our government, they sentence vampires who have committed crimes, get rid of any threats, hide our world from the humans. They have a leader, Aro, but they don't like humans. So no matter what, this has to stay between us" jasper tells me

"You've sentenced your own mate to death" rosalie says

"Mate?" But they ignore me

"Rose, what else was I supposed to do?" Jasper asks

"She is a little girl, I told you all straight away that this was a stupid idea. I'm sorry daisy, they've risked your life and continue to do so. Carlisle, if the volturi find out we've fostered a human, and she knows about us, they will kill her and then us. She doesn't deserve this" and then rose storms outside for some fresh air as we sit in silence

"Jasper, fuck did she mean by mate?" I ask. Everyone leaves to give us some private space and jasper sits to explain. And that he does, he tells me about or connection, what it means, how much he cares. It was alot to take in

"I'm sorry, I know that coming here hasn't made things easy for your family, if I'd have known-"

"Daisy, I'm glad you're here" he smiles grabbing my hand

"You know, if anyone was gonna be my mate, I'm glad it's you. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I stayed here, if I became part of your family...maybe...If you don't want-"

"You are already part of this family. I love you so much, we all do" I fling my arms around him and hug him tightly as I cry into his neck. I havnt had a family before, certainly not what I expected, but I'm grateful and eternally happy
