The warm summer breeze touched my arm like a big hug. Ah summer was finally here. I was in the car with the radio blasting as I set sail to grandmas.

I had to go over since my parents are deciding to renovate the house and they thought it wasn't safe for me to stay. So they sent me off to grandmas house.

I can't really say I'm sad about it but I would prefer to stay home with my school friends over the summer. But my mom insisted I could easily make some friends.

I got lost in my thoughts as the car halted to a stop with a screech. "Come on kiddo we are here." My dad said taking the keys out of the ignition.

I swung the door open and took my first steps in the gravel drive way. I grab my few bag before hugging my dad goodbye. I waved on until his car was no longer in sight.

I walked up the rocky driveway and knocked on the door. It took a few minutes till the door opened and my grandmother seemed please to see me.

"Oh dear I'm glad it was you. I thought you were one of those pesky sales people." My grandmother said while ushering my inside

"One of them tried selling me a used vacuum." She said making me light laugh

"You can drop your bags in the upstairs room. I'll start us some lunch." Grandma said while slowly slipping into the kitchen

I rushed up the steps and slammed open the door to see my room. The same bed I used to sleep in years ago. It still looks good.

I flop onto the bed with a thud as I take in a deep breath. The air smelt like someone hasn't opened the door in a bit.

I sat up and opened a window before going to my bags and emptying all of them on the bed and placing them in the near by drawers.

"[NAME] lunch is ready!" Grandma said from downstairs

"Coming!" I said flying down the stairs and sliding to the kitchen table

Grandma placed a bowl fried rice and chicken. As I began to eat she also placed a raspberry milkshake down.

I never really liked raspberry milkshakes but I still choke them down because she always seems so happy when I enjoy what she makes me.

For the rest of the time we ate I caught her up on all the things I have done at school. The aura felt comfortable.

I've missed her

"Oh would you mind and run down to the store down the street and pick something up for me?" Grandma said looking up from her plate

"Sure what do you need?" I asked placing my fork down in the sink along with my other dishes

"Oh just a coke and some potato chips and you can get something for yourself too." Grandma said pulling out a twenty

"Alright! What's the name of the store?" I said grabbing the 20 dollar bill

"Oh it's "Grab n' Go" it should be down a couple blocks. You should know I used to take you there all the time when you were small." Grandma said while pinching my arm

"Okay...I'll be back soon." I said laughing through my words as I shut the door and set sail for Grab n' Go

After 10 minutes I reach it. The summer heat making sweat flow down my cheeks

As I walked in the cool AC chill hit me like a rush. There were many kids talking while browsing

I walked over to the sodas. There was another kid he had dirty blond hair that hung around his face.

When I stood next to him he shared a glance at me before putting his head down. "Excuse me can I get a coke?" I asked with the nicest voice I could have

"Oh I'm sorry yeah." He said making room for me

"Thanks..." I said grabbing cokes "do you want anything?" I asked with the door hanging on my back

"Uh I don't have money..."he said sounding embarrassed

"That's fine...I've got money I can pay for you. What you feeling for?" I said looking into the fridge

"Dr pepper.." he said before giving me a sweet smile

I grab the sodas and chips before placing them onto the counter "that will be...5 dollars." The cashier said before I placed the 20 on the counter

I had the mystery boy his soda as the cashier handed me the change and rest of the treats

We walked together just talking the rest of the way home "I've never seen you at school...are you new?" He asked as he opened the dr.pepper

"No I'm not I'm just here for the summer. I'm staying with my grandma." I say as taking a drink of my coke

"Ah that makes sense.." he said before putting his head down to the ground

"You good?" I asked placing a hand on his shoulder

"I'm just confused. You just bought me a drink and you don't even know me? I could be like...a kidnapper!" The boy said making a face at the end

I laughed before answering "I don't know...it's hot and I just felt like I should beside I don't think you would try and kidnap me.

"Oh...well thanks well...this is my street so I guess I'll see you later." He said before walking down the street

I continued back to grandmas house when it hit me I never got his name...shit. I opened the door to the house and I could hear the TV going.

"Grandma I'm back!" I yelled to make sure she heard me.

"Alright place my stuff of the table." She said from who knows where

I placed her coke and chips on the table I walked up stairs and flopped onto my bed and turn on my TV to watch a movie.
