~Back In The Game~

~Chapter Three~

-Last Time-

"WHAT?!" they screamed from outside.

"PLEASE LET ME IN! PLEASE LET ME PLAY VOLLEYBALL! I PROMISE I'LL BE NICE, EVEN TO KAGEYAMA!" Hinata screamed pleadingly. As Hinata kept pleading to be let in, you and the upperclassmen are inside listening to him.

"Are you sure about this Daichi?" Tanka questioned.

"Besides teams aren't made overnight," Suga explained.

" It's not like I'm kicking them off the team..." Daichi said.

"Exactly, he's just trying to make a point. You won't be able to practice with them like this. Those boys are stubborn and hard-headed, the only way for them to learn is by being harsh are honest." you say defending Daichi. As realization hits Suga he begins to ask a question before being rudely interrupted.

"I'M SORRY CAPTAIN! I PROMISE TO CORPORATE WITH HINATA! PLEASE LET ME JOIN PRACTICE!" Kageyama finally yells. Daichi walks over to the door and slightly opens it. He peeks out the door and talks to them but you can't hear their conversation. Daichi slams the door and tells us we will be starting practice.

-Small Timeskip-

As practice ends and the boys are getting ready to leave we begin to talk to each other.

"Wouldn't it funny if they suddenly challenged us to a game to be able to get back into the gym?" Tanka says jokingly.

"It seems like something they would do, but if they do Kageyama will try to do-" you begin before a loud shout is heard.

"CAPTAIN!"

"Everything by himself..." you finish while pouting. 'Cute!' the boys think when they see you frowning. Daichi walks to the door. Opening it he sees Kageyama and Hinata standing there.

"You guys?! Have you been here the whole time?!" he asks confused.

"WE CHALLENGE YOU TO A GAME!" Kageyama begins, "US VERSES TWO OF YOU!" Hinata continues.

"I TOLD YA THEY'D DO IT! NOT A BRAIN CELL BETWEEN 'EM!" Tanka shouts while laughing.

"And what if you lose?" Daichi asks while considering the offer.

"I will accept any punishment you deem hit!" Kageyama exclaims.

"We have two other first-years joining so we will play a 3-on-3. It's a game we play every year to see the new players' skills."

"If it's a 3-on-3, who will be our third?" Hinata asks.

"Tanaka, since yo-" Daichi begins.

"I'LL DO IT!" you yell before thinking. Everyone is silent until Suga speaks up.

"You can play?"

"Yea, I know a few things," you say bashfully.

"Well, it's up to these two," Daichi says while looking at Hinata and Kageyama. They hesitate before looking at you. They immediately blush when they see you looking at them with puppy dog eyes.

"Pwease~?" you ask cutely. They just both nod their heads vigorously. You look at Daichi to make sure it's ok. He smiles and nods. You give him a quick hug as thanks, which makes him tense, then run to your fellow first years. Wrapping one arm around each of them you hug them while excitedly thanking them. Due to your excitement, you don't notice them turn stiff as boards and red as tomatoes. You also don't realize the deadly glares coming from the upperclassmen. You hear Daichi clear his throat so you turn around looking bashful.

"If your team loses, as long as we third years are around, Kageyama will be forbidden from playing setter," Daichi says authoritatively.

"What? That's it captain?" Hinata asks. That's the last thing you hear of the conversation as you start to fall into the deep pit of your thoughts. 'What if I hold them back? What if they lose because of me? I don't want to be the reason Kageyama isn't able to play setter! What have I gotten into?! My stupid mouth opened before I could even think!' As you continue to doubt yourself you get pulled out of your thoughts by Tanka clearing his throat.

"Ahem! Hey Suga, tomorrow's morning practice starts at 7 a.m. like always right?"

"Yeah... Why?"

"Oh just wondering!... Do you guys think the VP's toupee survived?"

"WE AREN'T SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT IT!!" Daichi scolded.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Tomorrow at 5 a.m.!" Hinata and Kageyama said together with determination. After grabbing their belongings they left.

"..."

"They left me here!!" you shouted gaining the attention of the boys in the gym. The door opened and you looked to see Daichi and Suga staring at you. It doesn't take them long to notice your bottom lips sticking out as you pout.

"Daichi... Suga...." you said softly.

"..."

"..."

"T-They left me behind! They left their teammate behind!" you say while dropping to the ground.

"!!"

"!!"

The third years run to you to make sure you aren't hurt.

"Did they hurt you?! Where does it hurt?!" Suga started asking worryingly.

"T-The only thing that hurts is my heart. How could they forget me?" While you're talking, Tanaka goes to the door to see what's happening. When he sees you on the ground surrounded by his senpais he starts freaking out.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR ANGEL?! I'LL BEAT ANYONE UP! WHO IS IT?! HUH?!" Suddenly an angelic giggle was heard. Stopping what they were doing the boys all turned to the girl on the ground. As you continued to giggle the redness of the boys' faces began to worsen. You turned to Tanaka and smiled.

"Thank you Tanaka-senpai! I needed a laugh," you say before giving him a closed-eyed smile.

"...SHE CALLED ME SENPAI!!!" screamed Tanaka as Daichi and Suga sighed.

"Let's all head home. I'll walk you home (Y/N)." Daichi said while getting a glare from Suga because he wanted to walk you home.

"Okay, let's go!" you say excitedly before jumping up and getting your things.

You and Daichi walked in comfortable silence before Daichi asked a question.

"Why do you want to play with Hinata and Kageyama for the 3-on-3?"

"O-Oh uh... I want them to get along. I know firsthand that when you don't get along with someone on your team it affects everyone." you explain with your head down and sadness in your voice. Daichi wanted to ask how you knew but he didn't because he knew that if you wanted to say, you would have in the first place.

"Well, I'm sure that things will work out in the end," he says while patting your head. You continue to walk in silence. When you arrive at your house you walk up to your door and are about to go in when you stop and turn around to call out to your captain.

"Daichi!"

"Yea?" he says turning around to look at you.

"It was nice seeing you again! I'm glad you're taking my advice!" say before winking and going inside leaving a flustered and confused Daichi. 'Wha?' Daichi thought to himself while blushing before heading home.
